“Fantastic and nothing like camping!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2012

Set deep in the Serengeti National Park is this true gem, consisting of tented camps and main areas for eating and just gazing out at the incredible Serengeti. We arrived tired and hot and were instantly met with cold towels, followed closely by juice and then gin and tonics!
Our tent was delightful. There was a large chesterfield, a huge bed with fresh crisp white linen bedding, a massive shower area and bathrobes and a bottle of champagne chilling in a silver ice bucket. We had a private balcony from which we could watch the Serengeti sunset.
Dinner was served under the stars on both nights. The food was great, especially on Valentine's Day and very innovative. Our game drive further into the reserve, although very long, was excellent and it was a bonus to see the thousands of wildebeest and zebras which had made the migration.
On our final night sundowners served on the upstairs deck just looking out over the Serengeti was spectacular.
How often do you get to have breakfast while looking at a family of giraffe and loads of elephants and hearing hippos wallowing in the nearby pools?
This place is magical and I would have loved to stay longer.

Room Tip: Room 15 is very large but the access is via very steep uneven stairs.

Rooms are good, service too, food not so much, but nothing of that matters because you are there for the crossing of the river and that is truly an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. When we saw it, the crocodiles were a bit lazy and did not catch anything but the size of the migration is out of this world. You travel for a whole day and you just see wildebeests and more wildebeests, zebras and more zebras - stunning.

What an amazing place in an amazing location... The camp is nestled in the among the rocky outcrops, your home is elevated tents, (if you can really call them that), they were spacious, richly furnished, and seamless with the surroundings. Sitting in rockers on the deck of our tent, with animals wandering right by, and at times right up to your tent. At night you are surrounded by the sounds animals moving about outside your tent or in our case grunting and rubbing up agains the platform of the tent. Staff were wonderful, the food was great, the views of the evening sunset amazing and on one evening an outrageous lightening storm. All part of the very positive memories of our stay here.

A luxury tented lodge - definately glamping not camping! Surrounded by animals and out in the bush!. The service was excellent although the staff should have been briefed on the menu and drinks choice. The food needs to be more variable with a little more choice. Not the best experience at meal times we have had in Africa but maybe this was due to the Manager being on annual leave. Ken the assistant Manager did try his best but there was room for improvement . Dan the waiter was brilliant and made up for everything!

On our last stop of our Tanzania Safari, we stayed at the Migration Camp. The setting at Grumeti River, with a breathtaking sunset atmosphere, is just wonderful and fulfils the image of a luxury lodge in Africa. The attentive and friendly staff is making the visitors fill very well. Amazing are the sounds in the evening and at night – especially the Hippos from near river are unique. The chef and his team make every meal a moment to look for. Ideal place to discover the rich wildlife of the area.

We spent 3 great nights there and it was just wonderful. The location was perfect from seeing Giraffes while having coffee in the morning on our porch and seeing a family of baboons sitting on our deck. Seeing the hippos down by the river and listening to them. The tents as they call them were amazing!!! Super showers and bath and decorated to the nines. The main lodge was just beautiful and the staff could not be better or warmer. The food was excellent and everyone could not have been more helpful.

Room Tip: All rooms are in a great location and all require a short walk to the main lodge.(comfortable shoes)

We stayed for three days enjoying this gorgeous setting. Warthogs, monkeys, baboons and giraffe all wandered around our tent. We saw hippos walking down to the river from our room. Rooms were beautifully clean, spacious and very comfortable with lovely beds. The food was excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Our teenage girls were made very welcome. Our guide, Maji was lovely and helped us explore the Serengeti with his excellent knowledge. The Serengeti is amazing, so wonderful to experience and we would love to go back. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All rooms are very private and seem to have good views.
