Spacious and clean rooms... nice views...

There were limited vegetarian options for the meals... given how expensive the resort it, it was a bummer to not enjoy the meals...

The pool area was very nice...

We had 1 night here on our safari. The views over the Serengeti were stunning. The rooms were spacious, bathrooms were nice however hot water was limited to certain times which wasn't expected in such a posh hotel. We were here for boxing day so there were lots of special things going on like canapes, 5 course meals, African dancing and drumming and a fantastic African choir (all the chefs and waiters!)
We are a family that prefer the homely small camping sites rather than the very western hotels but that's not to say it wouldn't suit all.
Everything seemed very tip orientated and it was almost pushed upon us one evening when they had acrobats doing a display on boxing day.
The food was very posh with many courses. Coffee and tea free of charge.
The pool was small but plenty of sun loungers. Lots of flies in the pool!!
Maybe a bit too grandiose for us, we prefer adventures of wild camping!!

WOW! WOW! WOW!

I absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms and showers were huge and comfortable! The view over the plain was gorgeous. The 5 course dinners were served by a waiter and were very tasty - though the portion sizes were a tad small. Just ask for some rice or potatoes and they were perfect. The box lunch was not good. - However when I put this in the review by the hotel the manager immediately addressed my comments - this is very nice to see a proactive management. They had the best pork sausages for breakfast of all the hotels. Wifi in the hotel lobby area was free - loved that!

Had gone for lunch on 24 Dec,12 and was very much dissapointed! We had last been to Sopa 15 years ago and loved the place to bits. The lodge is lovely but the lunch that we were served for USD 30 was really dissapponting for the price! Kids meal was at the same rate for a starter of 2 pcs of chicken satay, a bowl of soup, 4 pcs of hard chicken nuggets and a small bowl of fries and a small piece of chocolate brownie! Adults meal had a mini sized burger instead of the chicken nuggets. What a ripoff!!! Was really surprised at this luncheon compared to SERENA which gives you a buffet meal at the same price but with a vast choice and variety! VERY DISSAPPOINTED to go all the way for this measly meal! What a waste of time and fuel! The staff at the reception was quite friendly with a glass of cold juice and a cold towel to freshen up.

This was the second sopa lodge we visited and this was the worse one of the three. It looked like it needed a general paint job and the staff were the least friendly and talkative. All the meals were again ok with lunch and dinner being al la carte.Again a questionaire was fiiled in after dinner as we seemed to be following the new chefs mentioned at ngorongoro. The location was amazing and the view at meal times stunning.A special mention to the manager who dealt with any small issues ,a true gentleman. We would visit again but would hope the staff had slightly more trainning and followed the example of the other sopa lodges.

The Sopa lodges are all unique and this one was beautiful, too. The lodge overlooks the Serengeti plains and wildebeest herds. The road immediately accessing the Lodge is crazily rutted and feels like the vehicle will break apart but, once you are there you really feel relaxed and pampered. The Sopa lodge staff meet you after your game drive and give warm wet face cloths and a glass of juice....a welcome relief from the dusty drive. The food was excellent with many choices for dinner and a huge array of breakfast foods. The room was huge and the bathroom was amazing. The shower was the best ever (felt like a waterfall) and there was even a clothesline for drying hand laundered items. One piece of advice.....if you like to read in bed, bring a head lamp. The lighting is a bit dim and is generally inadequate for the room size and the bedside lamps are not great. All in all, though, this is a wonderful A+ place!

Set on a hill overlooking the endless Serengeti plains, this older, yet well maintained lodge, is an ideal place in an amazing location, to come back to after a long day of animal gazing.
Food was very good, with an Indian touch. Staff (especially Frank, our personal waiter), was friendly, and attentive. At Dinner, the hotel staff singing and dancing chorous, gave a cheerfull show in the dining room, and were joined by some guests.
We loved the place!
