“Ngorongoro Sopa is better than Serengeti Sopa if you choose Sopa lodge”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2012

After reading reviews, we expected more. Our room was upstairs 3rd room from the lounge so the view from the room was nice. However the rain started so rain started to drop on my head during at night. That was unfortunate because maintenance may not know unless it rains. Anyway we had reported the matter and hopefully they will fix it. Meals were average. Had read complain from reviews about picnic lunch. We are family of 5. They were all same as reviewer mentioned. Small leg of chiken and one sandwich. Two lunch boxes out of 6 (including our driver,s) had youghurt, some fruites and mineral water. 4 out of 6 had only chicken, sandwich, a packet of juice. It is better the guests go back to lodge and have lunch there. Why they can not improve lunch box ?

Room Tip: Up stairs have better view. Downstairs room may be blocked by some trees.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend and friends. Overall amazing experience. If you are paying so much money for these safaris, you only hope the accommodation comes through as well, and Sopa did.

The rooms were beautiful, with patios that open up to views of the Serengeti. We had adjoining rooms with our friends that made it feel even more like home. The beds were comfortable and even ha a refrigerator to keep our drinks cold.

Staff were amazing! (Like all Sopa lodges)

Great view of the Serengeti. Took our morning tea on the patio and eve caught a glimpse of a Hyena walking buy in the morning sun.

The food was great (No buffet for dinner = a huge plus).

Drinks were cold, the beds were warm, and the location was perfect. Lots of animals within 10 minute drive from the lodge.

It would be great to stay at multiple lodges in different areas of the Serengeti, but for a 1 or 2 night stay, I couldn't have been happier. Amazing way to start our safari.

Room Tip: There are multiple levels so the higher you are the better the view. We were on the ground floor, b...

Wonderful lodge that offered stunning views, especially from the pool area. Food was fantastic and plentyful. Staff were brilliant (we found this in all the places we stayed on safari) and made our stay that little more special. Would love to return

The rooms had the amenities we needed with beautiful views from the balcony and grounds. The food was good and Peter took great care of us at our meals. The staff choir performed beautiful songs after dinner. The only downside to the Sopa was the box lunches.

Nice sitauted hotel, in the midlle of wilderness. Whole hotel was well maintained with great services and views. Especially from the pool area, you can enjoy nice views over the Serengeti.

Pros:
- Services were exceptional, starting with our "warm" welcome with hot towel and welcome drink, efficient check in, through the services of their own doctor we needed to use to attentive dinner staff. No complains, just pure satisfaction,
- Where glazed bedroom ends, the wilderness begins. During the night, we saw hyenas and other animals just few meters away from our balcony... We have never been such close to the wlderness as here (neither at the Ngoro Ngoro or Lake Manyara).
- Rooms are the same simple equipped as the Ngoro Ngoro Sopa lodge, but are quite spacious, clean, with huge and clean bathroom.
- Dinner was the same style as in the Ngoro Ngoro Sopa lodge. You ca choose from 4 meals, that are already cooked and quickly server. Service was great. Meals were average ones.
- Breakfast was buffet style, with great variety of meals. This was really great and we would have enjoyed it better if we did not rush for a game drive ;-)
- Swimming pool is big, with nice views over the Serengeti
- At the evening, there is a lots of amusement provided by the staff (like singers, dancers etc...)
- I used their gym which is simply equipped, but even some equpment is better than no one...

- So all in all Serengeti Sopa is much better than Ngoro Ngoro. Better services, better breakfast, no cheaters, gym availability (no gym at Ngoro), lots of amusement (no amusement at Ngoro)...

Cons:
- One negative point is regadring the internet. We had some problems witch catching the wifi signal in the room (the same problem as in the Ngoro Ngoro Sopa lodge) so we were forced to move from our room to hotel lobby where we finally could catch the signal...
- No other complains, no cheaters, all in all nice, clean, comfortable lodge....

Great lodge but a bit big for my liking, you feel more like a number than a guest. The staff were nice enough and the food was great. They have a very nice entrance area and the rooms were a bit old fashioned but as a single traveller I had 3 double beds. The view was great but the balcony would not be safe for kids.

We greatly enjoyed our short stay at this Sopa Lodge. The drive up the small road to get there was rough, but it was worth it. The views from the decks and the pool area were stunning. The staff were wonderful and very friendly. We enjoyed the food and enjoyed the set menu as we had eaten buffets most other places that we stayed. It does have the feel of a big hotel, but if you don't mind, I would recommend staying here.
