We stayed in Serengeti Serena for one night.
From the exterior the room seems to be in a hut, once inside the rooms are clean, well mantained and you have internet all over the hotel ( once you signed at the lobby or reception area) which is hard to get in Tanzania. The double room bed was big, but the room itself was not too big. The bathroom was nice, clean with a shower and hot water. The towels and bed sheets are clean and you can find a hairdrier. The staff is ok, not too nice but average . The food was good, with a lot of choice from the buffet. The hotel is big, you can walk around the huts, the restaurant ( which organizes african perfomances for the night), a shop , bar and a nice pool.
The view on Serengeti is very nice and you can see some mini deers here and there.
Very quiet at night.

I stayed at this mountain top Serena Lodge for 3 days as part of a 13 day safari in Northern Tanzania. I was part of larger group travelling together in 7 safari vehicles. Upon our arrival(s) we were greeted by music and dancing, warm cloths to wipe our dusty faces and chilled mango juice.
The rooms (which are in 2 story huts) are lovely with beautiful views overlooking the valley where one can see (from some rooms) elephants and giraffes off in the distance. The Lodge is in the Park so the animals can also roam on the grounds. The tree in front of our apt / room had been toppled by an elephant. There are always guards patrolling, on the watch for animals as no one is allowed to return to their rooms at night with out being accompanied (especially since we had the furthest room from the Lodge). Our guard each night was Reginald and he was great at explaining the animal behaviours to us. On one night walking back he calmed a group of young Japanese tourists. We never felt unsafe.
after they insisted they saw a leopard from their room. All of the staff speak excellent English and nothing is too much trouble for them. The Manager Felix greets guest, introduces himself and takes the time to answer questions and ensure that we are being well served. In our case, we sat and talked with him for 20 minutes asking questions about the Lodge and its history.
The Lodge itself is beautiful with hand carved wooden statues at the doors. The dining rooms and lounges inside and outside are beautiful with lovely table settings (high end linens, cutlery etc) And very comfortable seating. The service is excellent and attentive. The lounges are where the Wifi can be picked up. Works much better inside than out, but it works!
The meals are delicious with buffets for breakfast and lunch and a menu option at dinner. Plenty of options for vegetarians or folks with food sensitivities. Always a local dish on the evening menu which was delicious.
The rooms are lovely, small but well laid out. We had twin beds which were very comfortable, showers were excellent. We were on the upper floor of the 2 story hut. They all have a balcony. The rooms can be warm at night and with only a table fan to cool off it was a bit stuffy. Leaving the balcony door open is not an option as baboons are clever animals!
The swimming pool is lovely, lots of seating, towels and service for beverages. Evening entertainment consisted of young drummers and dancers who could really move.
I would return to this Lodge, for the friendliness of the staff, the beauty of the location and the serenity of the Lodge!

Room Tip: If you have any difficulties with walking or stairs ask for a room on the lower level closer to the Lodge. Also the views are better in the rooms closer to the Main Lodge.

Travelling regularly to Tanzania ... this is a great lodge ... after driving a full day this is a delightfull stop ... good food ... gentle staff ... in the middle of the Serengeti and the wildlife. Spend at least 2 nights before going to their ***** star sisterlodge Kirawira ... Great location, don't miss it ! xxx

Room Tip: All rooms seems good to us as we have already been many times ! Eventually not the one to close to the swimmingpool.

another great lodge set up by our safari company. fun place with rounded 2 story rooms. we were on the bottom floor with a nice view to watch sunset/sunrise. There were 3 of us in the room so a little crammed but nothing to complain about. There was also a desk and large flat area to place all of our luggages on. Bathroom was good size and very clean. Also provided us with travel toiletries and bottled water. Staff requests you walk from room to front desk/eating area because you are within the Serengeti (about 6-8 lodges only in Serengeti). Time for escort to pick us up often took time so we decided to walk ourselves. Didn't feel we were in danger but do recommended light when walking. Great food... way too much actually! The soup as starter was so yummy and the buffet had more than enough - from carved meats, to pasta and omelets made to your preference, fresh fruit, mimosas, deserts. Very nice and large inside/outside eating areas. There is also a bar area where they have native dancing/shows. Highly recommended! The flies in the Serengeti suck though. They hurt when bite. They put up some blue/black cloth to try and attract them but they're still everywhere. Don't wear blue/black colors. Really nothing else you can do.

Really there is very little to fault about this place. It has a decent location in central Serengeti, 8 km away from the main safari road. The whole look and feel of the place is great. The food is awesome with a huge variety. The service is very good. The staff are friendly. They have a nice infinithy swimming pool. Only thing is, the rooms are a bit small and there is no ceiling fan in the room, they do provide a small table fan, but in the warm season it can get a bit stuffy at night especially because you cant open the door to the balcony because of the fear of some wild animal paying you an unexpected visit - after all the place is in the park, and without fences so animals can come and go as they please. They do give you the services of a guard who will escort you to and fro your room, especially at night. The guards patrol the place 24x7 so you do feel safe.
