“rooms were like a condo - so big”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

Rooms were HUGE and the bathrooms blew my mind.

Loved all the staff - so friendly and approachable and good at their jobs. They were very professional.

Needs a pool if water could be worked out. Also, needs Stony Tangawizi.

Mbuzi is an ok tented camp with regards to the large, if rather bland tents. The main area is reasonable, with an outside seating area and inside bar area, again with seating, not enough if
everyone staying wants a pre-dinner drink. Food is average when it is eventually served. We waited nearly two hours one night, for the main meal to be served. Do not make the mistake
that I did ie not order a starter!
Due to the position of the Wildebeest Migration, we had lunch, one day, at Kirawira. Great that
the Serena chain allow this flexibility. Kirawira is wonderful and with prompt and slick service
and only reinforced the slow and quite poor level of service at Mbuzi.
The location is good, with the camp set in and around large rocks, that play host to many animals.
Located about 45 minutes from the central Serengeti area and, therefore, is a good base for much of the year, except maybe in Jan/Feb/March period, when the large herds are much further south.

Room Tip: The generator is on all night, so avoid Tents 1 and 2.

We where greeted with a herd of Elephants on property. Lions bellowed at night. They are central to the central and northern Serengeti. 40 minutes fromthe tourist bureau and bush airport. Very luxurious for the middle of the Serengiti. Lots of hotwater, food is good - not a set menu. Be prepared to eat at 8:00 each night.

Room Tip: All the tents require a guide to walk you back after dinner. This site is not fenced but the evening...

one of the best hotels in our safari trip. the tents are very high standard, they are huge with royal queen beds with mosquitto nets. The bathroom is fantastic, you would not expect such a thing in a tent. Staff is great, very helpful, efficient and welcoming. The cheff is a very nice person who prepared especially for us, upon our request, local tanzanian food - mckande, if I remeber well,, which is slow cooked rice with dried corn and a lot of spices, served with very hot and spicy chilly-tomato salad.

On a 3 week safari of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania with Ketas Safaris ( who were just wonderful) this was my favourite place to stay. We stayed in excellent accommodation for the whole trip including tented camps in each country but the Mbuzi Mawe camp in the Serengeti was outstanding. Luxury roomy tents include a large ensuite, telephone and wifi. The staff were friendly and helpful and the meals were excellent. Having wildlife outside the tents was fun. They included monkeys, hyrax, buffalo and we heard lions roaring at night from close by. There were plenty of animals on the game drives and the highlight was seeing a leopard on successive days. I would highly recommend this tented camp to animal lovers everywhere.

This was the only tented camp we stayed in during our visit to Tanzania. I actually preferred it over the other resorts. I loved having monkeys on the porch and hyrax on the ceiling! The scenery was beautiful. The food was good, but about the same as everywhere else we stayed. The staff was super friendly and attentive.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms. If a guest has a disability or trouble walking, make sure you request a tent...

On our safari back to the Serengeti this year, ,we decided to for a change stay at mbuizi Mawe tented lodge and did we ever love it. !!!!! The tents and decor are very nice and the staff were ever better
Sadly we only spent 1 night here but Vincent the camp manager made our short stay very pleasant and next year on our next safari we will definitely stay here longer
Vincent and his staff just went all out to make sure we had a superb experience and opened up the place to us like it was their home
Given its remote and spectular location among the rock kopies ,it doesn't,t get better then that if you want to truly want the outdoor experience of Africa and the animals right outside your tent .
At night ,if you like it or not ,you will be escorted around by rangers and camp security because of the close proximity of the animals .the klipspringer deer which are difficult to spot elsewhere in the Serengeti ,are everywhere on the property . On our night here we had lions ,hyena and buffalo in very close proximity but felt very safe as the rangers were always around
Staying in the tent was so pleasant with big poster beds covered with romantic mosquito nets free wifi ,beautiful tiles floors and a superb bathroom
On our stay here for the night ,it rained a bit just before we went to bed and what an experience it turned out to be .with the rain pattering on the roof and the animals outside doing their thing was such an incredible experience
We will be back !!
