Kati Kati Tented Camp

You are sleeping in the middle of Serengeti, with nothing but a thick canvas tent between you and hyenas, zebras, baboons, elephants, giraffes, etc.!!! LOVED hearing the wildlife conversations in the middle of the night. And the glow of the star-studded night skies. The tents are spacious, clean, comfortable, with flush toilets and hot showers -- no easy feat to pull off given where you are. Service is outstanding, food is terrific. Campfire every evening is a nice way to wind down after OUT OF THIS WORLD wildlife encounters throughout the park.

- great tents with toilets and bathroom ( simple but just what we needed, great experience of tented camp! ). You have to say when you want to take a shower and employees come to prepare the hot water from behing the tents.
- super nice employees. The chief of cooking came to announce the menu when we were at the aperetif around the great fire around 7 pm.
- the dinner tent was great! In the middle of the "savane".
- i recommend this tented camp if you want to experience a real tented camp with nice employees, in the nature, with an evening fire and super super great food!

We stayed two nights during Easter 2014. We also stayed in very up-market lodges, but all four of us agreed that Kati Kati was our favourite! Quiet bonfire evenings with a Serengeti beer -wonderful! Very pleasant staff and excellent food!

We found the staff at Kati Kati to be exceptional. I'm sure it's not easy working in the bush of the Serengeti, but the men who cooked for and took care of us during our stay were fabulous. The tents are very nice, clean and comfortable. The food was wonderful. The only negative to the camp (and the only reason I did not give it 5 stars) is the slight difficulty with taking a shower. We needed to ask the staff to heat the water on the fire, and then they would pour it into the shower water supply in the back of the tent. Because it was dark outside when we took showers, it wasn't quite clear if we had complete privacy while showering. The staff then had to wait until we were done showering to reuse the remaining water. As a result, taking a shower was a bit awkward. Otherwise, we loved this camp.

Wow!! The location and atmosphere is absolutely worth spending the money!
Nice tents with comfortable beds and private toilet and shower.
Hot water shower was perfect!
Very friendly stuff and good breaktfast ( dinner was average- but good soup!)
It is a magic feeling to sleep in the central serengeti and hear the lions roar at night.
No mosquitos!
We definetely recommend to spend 1 or 2 nights at kati kati camp.

A wonderful family experience made all the better by a fantastic staff who pull off the seemingly impossilbe. You are in the middle of the Serenngheti wilderness with all the basic necessities aand quite a few luxuries in well constructed tents. We especially liked the fact that our guide could have meals with us since some other accommodations do not welcome them.

Room Tip: It makes no difference.

Gourmet food, comfortable tents with indoor bathrooms, warm-water showers on demand, and they even make it easy to do light laundry, all right in the middle of the Serengeti! Escorts back to your tent after dusk, camp fire get-togethers before multi-course dinners. This luxurious campsite is chef-managed, so you know the food and service is pretty impressive!
One rare downside was the bugs attracted to our dinner lantern and table (once the candle was removed, all was well); the other was our unavoidable bad-timing for the Great Migration through our camp-site, which we booked for 3 nights instead of our normal 1-2 nights elsewhere (hard to plan around sometimes unpredictable rain and migratory patterns); the Great Migration pretty much left the week before our arrival (we experienced an exciting night in Ngorogoro Conservation Area the night before and expected a similar experience in the Serengeti) and the thousands of wildebeest returned as we were driving out the Serengeti, but the multitude of different actual species (including lions, water buffalo, hyenas, hartebeest, gazelles, zebra, and other wild creatures in and around the tent site day and night) made up for the shear number of migrating wildebeest found elsewhere. The kids loved this place and the concept of tented camp-sites, which can be simultaneously comfortable and adventurous.

Room Tip: We followed popular advice and booked 3 nights to get tents toward the far ends of the camp, though...
