We stayed here for 3 nights in Sep 2012. We had no idea how vast the Serengeti was, and every evening we just sat and looked out from our "tent" in awe of the majesty of this whole area. We couldn't fault our stay here. The food was 5 star, our tent was almost better than our house, and the staff were fantastic. When our first choice of accommodation wasn't available, Maureen (from Go2Africa) suggested Bushtops and we weren't sure what to expect, but all I can say is "perfect". We had 3 wonderful game drives with Kokan who knew where to go, what to look for, and best of all, had a great sense of humour. An added bonus was the fellows in the restaurant who tried to teach me Swahili at every opportunity. It was the best time, and we really wouldn't have cared if we'd not seen many animals (we saw heaps) - the place was to die for.

This place is a dream. The setting of the property is in the midst of nature's backyard where you will encounter many visitors such as zebras and wildebeast that wander harmlessly. The tents are spacious and welcoming. You can capture the sunset while in your hot tub from your tent while drinking beer. The beds are very comfortable where the only thing which may disturb your sleep are the noisy neighbors, which for us was the wildebeast....

We are well traveled and were on our honeymoon. We had stayed at a few different lodges on the circuit and this was our favorite one. The staff here is genuine and friendly. Pantaleo does an incredible job of running an excellent operation while making the guests feel appreciated and welcome. They capture the philosophy of anticipating your needs and then delivering it without you even asking.

The only small criticism we would make is that the menu is slightly outdated and out of context such as fettuccine alfredo and beef bourguignon. The chef is willing to accommodate you with a days notice. On our last night, we had local cuisine which was by far the best meal. Other than that, the lodge itself more than makes up for it. It is an unforgettable experience, you won't be sorry.

We stayed at Bushtops for 2 nights on our Honeymoon and it was without doubt the best place we have ever stayed!! I had done a lot of research and had very high expectations and it surpassed them totally. The tents and food are incredible but what I will remember forever are the people we met there. Pantaleo, Gordon (our guide) Amos (our spotter) and all the waiting staff made our stay incredibly special. We managed to see the Big 5 all in one day plus a herd of elephants crossing the Mara river which was incredible. We were treated to some wonderful suprises as well which I won't spoli for any future honeymooners but rest assured if you decide to go here you will not be disappointed.

Bushtops was the first stop of our East Africa sojourn. We arrived with a tale of lost bags, no change of clothes & in quite a tizzy. Lawrence, Bushtops camp director, took charge making certain that our baggage did arrive before the end of our day stay. However, it should be noted that upon seeing our gorgeous accomodations & after the joy of our first game ride with Simon, we really did not care a whit whether we saw our bags again or not.
Bushtops is committed to sublime service, maximal comfort & intense joyful experiece They did not miss on a single thing.

Room Tip: Every room is a good room!!

I have never felt compelled to write a review for a hotel, resort or holiday destination before. But The Serengeti Bushtops is such a unique and wonderful place, that I want to spread the word, and tell people it's there.

The people working there are the most amazing people, kind, generous and knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they will walk through a tropical thunderstorm to bring hot chocolate to your tent and can tell you anything about every animal in the Serengeti!

This was the first stop on our Honeymoon, and what a place. The tents are beautiful, with views across the rolling hills of the Serengeti. You can have your meals served on your private deck (although this is only really practical for lunch due to the early starts and early sunsets), or eat in the "mess tent" with everyone else. The quality of the food was amazing, beautiful steaks, perfect chips (french fries) and wonderful puddings!

As Honeymooners we were treated like royalty, with surprises and treats at every turn, Deus, Pantaleo, John and Mustaffa were all particularly wonderful! Thanks to these guys (and the rest of the staff) our trip was incredibly memorable and Bushtops is now one of our favourite places on Earth!

We managed twice to get out in our hot tub on the deck (once hot and once cold) and it's lovely, they bring canapés and drinks to your tent and you can just relax and watch the animals wander by.

We were there in late September (2012), during the migration, so we saw a huge range of animals, and our guides knew exactly where to find them. We had a few people ask us if the Serengeti was full of other cars and tourists, but it really wasn't, seeing other vehicles was actually pretty rare, it really is a great time of year to go, I can thoroughly recommend it.

One word of warning, the nights and early mornings are surprisingly chilly, Bushtops supplied us with "Bush babies" (hot water bottles) in our beds and in the car for the early morning drives. We had a micro fleece each - which was fine for me most of the time, although my wife would have benefited from a thicker fleece, or an extra layer.

I cannot speak highly enough of Bushtops, and look forward to returning one day, or visiting the Mara Bushtops in Kenya.

(Mr & Mrs James - 2012)

Room Tip: There's 2 honeymoon tents which are the most private (although also the furthest walk to the restaurant) and a family tent (2 joined by a bridge). All the tents are wonderful, but Antelope (Honeymoon tent) I can vouch for being very private!
