We stayed two nights at Dunia Camp (sister camp of Olakira and Sayari North) during the Christmas holiday. One of the best tented camps we stayed in compared to the other ones (Mbuzi Mawe and Kisima Ngeda).
The camp is strategically located in Moru Kopjes, a location where the big cats (lions, leopard and cheetah) tend to hang out at this time of the year. We saw a cheetah and a lion near our camp and we can hear them making noise in the evening.
The host of the camp, Jose, is from Mallorca and catered to all of our needs. We were surprised by the cool rainy winds in Serengeti in the evening. Jose arranged extra duvets for us and slipped in two hot water bags in between the duvets! The bed became so comfortable that we were oblivious of the wake up call for our morning game drive.
The food was great. Sometimes we wonder how they were able to source such fresh ingredients in such a remote location. We thought the food overall was better than the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.
The only thing that took time to get use to was the shower. It is a manual shower that requires one of the camp staff to pour a bucket of water to get it going. The shower only lasts for 5-10 minutes so better be quick!
Great luxury camp and a true safari experience.More
