“Tent camping the right way”
Reviewed March 19, 2014 via mobile

I highly recommend the Dunia camp for the following reasons.1)luxurious tent camping is a truer safari experience; 2) the location is centrally located to areas of exceptional game viewing; 3) the staff was friendly and extremely attentive to the guests' needs; 4) the food, dining atmosphere, and evening bon fire made for a family like setting. Great place.

Dear Richard, Japeth & alle the staff of Dunia Camp
thank you for a very memorable and unique experience! We have been to all Asilia Camps and they were all fantastic but at Dunia`s the staff was excellent and thanks to our guide Hamza (best guide we ever had) the game drive was extraordinary! You all made our stay at Dunia`s Camp a special memory and we will come back to see you soon!

Despite literally being in the middle of "no where" the team at Dunia do a great job making people feel at home. The camp staff are all very friendly and the food was excellent. Staying in a tent was made easy by the fact we had running water, electricity, and a very comfortable bed. It really is an amazing experience and the guides who take you out to see the animals are very knowledgeable.

During our 45th wedding anniversary trip at the beginning of March this proved to be our favourite tented camp, The attitude and service from Richard and his staff was better than many 5 star hotels in the UK!
The tents were beautifully furnished and equipped and we actually enjoyed having bucket showers!
The chef managed amazing cuisine from his tent and we were thrilled to have an 'African' singing/dancing display as we were presented with an enormous iced anniversary cake. Special dietary requests were easily dealt with and it was a great end to our safari.
We would love to go back one day. Asante!

It is hard to describe the excitement for 1st timers on safari of the whole experience of camp life, pre-dawn starts, magical experiences with the local wildlife up close and personal, pleasant social evenings with like minded other guests, but experienced hands will recognise it I am sure.
The icing on our cake was the infectious enthusiasm and professionalism of our guide Hamza with his open sided vehicle, who never seemed to need to use his radio to find all the action - he just knew where to go.
Asilia camps have a special ethos that permeates right down to the guests. In Dunia, aside recruiting from the local towns and villages, then training up their team in-house, they generously support a local orphanage, all part of what they stand for. Well done!

This camp is situated in the central Serengeti area, although slightly apart from the airstrip (approx 30-40mins) in a quiet wooded location. During our honeymoon trip in the beginning of March this proved to be our favourite tented camp, although the grass in the area was quite long so we didn't see quite as many of the harder to spot animals than we did in the south. If visiting around this time I would recommend taking in the other parks and crater to the south as part of the trip to maximise your chances of seeing most wildlife.

The staff at this camp were what really made it extra special. The camp host on our say was Richard who always wore a smile and went out of his way to ensure all guests had everything they needed. The chef also deserves special praise for his fantastic homemade bread and fabulous meals.

This is a non-permanent camp despite being based here for the last 4-5 years, so tents really are canvas (unlike some other camps), and the showers work on a bucket system, meaning you have to ask for hot water and use it sparingly! Really though it was all part of the charm, and the tent was very spacious and comfortable. Going to sleep listening to the sounds of the bush was incredible.

The staff went out of their way to make our honeymoon extra special, with sparking wine and a romantic meal for 2 under the stars. All dietary requests were also very easily accommodated. We would love to return some day.

Fantastic food (really was) and service. Everybody from the manager down really wanted to make us welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The manager Richard even personally cleaned the mud from our shoes when we came back from a broken-down truck incident on a game drive.
