We stayed here the last 3 nights of our 2-week trip to the Northern Circuit in Feb 2014 and there couldn't have been a better way to end the vacation. The tent is as luxurious as one could hope for (or want) in such a remote, beautiful location. King-size bed, chaise in the front sitting area, clean and large bathroom etc. In the mornings we were woken with a coffee tray brought to our tent, followed by breakfast in the main tent to the sound of birds. At 7 pm a general campfire is offered where guests are offered drinks and snacks as the sun goes down, followed by a dinner at a beautifully set communal table. At all times, Angel, the manageress, was present to talk, share stories with the guests, answer questions, etc. The service is impeccable at Dunia, the staff are friendly and the place is gorgeous. We loved it.

Room Tip: 8 beautifully appointed tents are all the same. 4 on each side of the dining/main mess tent.

When planning our trip, we had not considered the Central Serengeti, but it was suggested to us by other Trip Advisor contributors and therefore we included a two night stay at Dunia Camp, owned and managed by Asilia Africa.

The landscape here is very flat and scattered with kopjes and the camp sits remotely within this space. The tents are large and comfortable, inclusive of a relaxing area with a lounge. The shower is a bucket shower, and the water is provided for you at your request and heated to the right temperature by your room attendant. The shower was good and the water provided was quite sufficient. We stayed in tent #8, which is the furthest from the main guest area.

Peter the camp manager, was friendly and charming, ensuring that everything was to our liking and taking time to mingle with the guests at sundowners and dinner. The entire staff were friendly and provided great service, particularly Andrew our room attendant and Japhed the Assistant Manager. Chef Prosper and his team provided amazing gourmet meals during our stay.

Room Tip: All of the tents are well positioned and private. None are a long walk from the main area. If you pr...

Dunia is a very special camp of only 8 tents in the Southern Serengeti. It has a spectacular location for the January-February time frame when the migration moves to this area. The tents are quite large and well equipped. Solar provides the power in the tents and there is plenty of lighting available but you need to charge any items in their main tent.

Showers are provided via a bucket shower. They provide portable radios to each tent and you simply call when you want to take a shower and within about 5-10 minutes the bucket is filled and hoisted up outside of your tent which supplies water to the shower in your tent. While this is a special bush/African experience I did find having to ask someone to lug all that water to the tent to be quite cumbersome.

Food was very good and the staff bent over backwards to make sure all was enjoyable. My only complaint was that while it was a little buggy they never closed the main tents where you would simply sit and relax which was also were the food was served. There are tse tse flies in the area but they were not out in droves so the few that we came across were not that uncomfortable.

In hindsight, I would want to spend some nights in a high level tented camp while on safari and while Dunia was very nice I would chose either a lodge (a very different experience) or try a different tented camp.

My wife and I were lucky enough to have spent a few days with the wonderful team at Dunia. We cant thank them enough for their high attention to detail and a level of service you would normally recieve from a 5-star resort...let alone in the middle of the Serengeti. Truly a magical experience from the food, to the accomodations but more importantly the folks who went above and beyond time and time again. Japhet and team provide us both with memories of our honeymoon we will cherish for a lifetime.

Room Tip: 2 nights us not enough...wish we stayed longer. Request a tent on the outskirts of camp for maxmium...

I stayed at Dunia Camp in December 2013 and really enjoyed my time there. The tent was amazing, right on a major migration corridor, and everyday you could sit at your tent or in the common areas and watch the thousands of wildebeest pass literally metres away from the camp. All the staff were amazing, including the manager, who took time everyday to meet with the guests and ensure we were happy and to enjoy a chat. The food was incredible, and all drinks are included. The camp is situated in the perfect location, close to the Central Serengeti area, yet is located in a secluded place which makes you feel like you are the only people in the Serengeti. The price may seem high, but rest assured that you will see every cent as being worth it, to enjoy a special experience in a special top quality camp.

Would echo the comments of other travelers in the luxury, service and food quality of Dunia. Richard, the manager, and his team are amazing and try to anticipate every guest's needs, including specific food requests which is incredible given how remote the camp is.

Tip: The pre-dinner campfire and the communal dinners are great experiences, but the staff can also prepare a private dinner slightly away from the other guests if you want privacy.

Dunia camp was our favourite camp on our Safari trip but Oliver's was a very close second. The food was amazing as was the very friendly and helpful staff. The tent itself was great with very comfy beds with fresh crisp linen, even hot showers which are hand filled when you want! It was like being in a 5* hotel in the middle of the bush with wild animals .Planet Safaris put together an incredible trip for our family which completely surpassed all my expectations by miles! I would thoroughly recommend them.

Room Tip: There are only 8 so all fantastic!
