If you ever want to see the migration, you do need to go there. There is a lot of wildlife and all support for the park is welcome.
We had a good few days on safari at the park. Stayed at the Kati Kati tented camp (excellent) and this allowed lots of time for game drives.
Does get busy on the roads at times and a bit of jeep rage when drivers are trying to get clients the best photos.
Information centre was a good spot for lunch and take the walk, lots of lizards & rock Haryx.
We travelled through Serengeti and had 4 days safari on the way. As this was July most wildebeests and zebras had left heading for Maasai Mara but there was no lack of animals. Especially lions and elephants were all-where to be seen. The endless Serengeti plains with the Acacia trees where just as beautiful as in the photos. On the minus side there are a lot of Land Cruisers in the open Serengeti so don’t expect many private viewings of the most action packed events.
Our experience was out of this world. Different from our regular Kruger Park or South African safari’s in that we saw thousands of zebra and wildebeest migrating. 7 lion in a tree - one fell out!! And a leopard in a tree. Aswell as numerous cheetah sitings! A real African experience like none other. A piece of heaven!
This is THE place in the Serengeti to see Lions!!!!! We saw lions climbing trees, sleeping in trees, climbing down from trees (( not as surefooted as leopards, though), a wonderful pride with 14 small cubs, other prides devouring their kill, etc. etc.!! We also saw lots of leopards, and ofcourse hundredthousands of Gnus and Zebras....... though unfortunately not the crossings!!!
