Ikoma is not for those that prefer first class luxury or 5-star hotels, but it does offer a unique wilderness experience in the heart of the Serengeti. The huts are basic with thatched roofs with a very rustic feel - a novel idea and very neat. However, you may make friends with some wildlife (I found a lizard inside my mosquito net in the morning :) and showering is difficult because the water is so cold.
The staff was phenomenal -- very friendly and accommodating both at the front desk and in the restaurant. Food was decent and loved that the cook came out to meet everyone and ask how the meal was.
Ikoma offers an experience you won't forget -- one that you'll go home and tell everyone about (whether the good or the bad) that makes interesting travels!More
