Outstanding Serengeti Experience

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 10, 2019
Our stay at One Nature Nyaruswiga was an outstanding experience from the moment we arrived at the airport until we, reluctantly, had to move on to our next destination. On arrival at the airport we were met by friendly staff and our guide who had brought drinks and fresh coffee with snacks, which was much appreciated after our early morning flight from Arusha. We went on a brief drive looking at the wildlife in the immediate area. Our vehicle was the open safari car which gave us a great sense of the land and environment. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and he provided some great insight into wildlife behaviour and the local habitat. The camp ("camp" is a great understatement in this case) is located not too far from the airport and overlooks the landscape. In addition to the guest tents, again tent is an understatement, there is a beautiful comfortable lounge, dining tent, small shop and above ground pool. Meals are served when you are ready and from a menu with excellent suggestions. We ordered a delicious beef sandwich and a Thai curry dish, in addition to a perfect gazpacho, with excellent wine which is kept in a wine refrigerator. We were expertly and diligently served by our butler who took very good care of us our entire stay. His calm, efficient manner and ability to anticipate our needs was an incredible experience all by itself. The dining tent was spacious and had a beautiful patio where we enjoyed most of our meals. Each meal has a menu of several dishes, all beautifully prepared, including vegetarian choices. My favourite was a curry vegetable stew on rice. Its significant that you can have meals when preferred because many camps have set communal dining times requiring a return to camp sometimes before you're ready. Our tent was so wonderful its hard to describe it adequately. Large, warm colours, good seating, fireplace and a bathtub overlooking the Serengeti, along with a large bathroom and an outdoor shower. Plenty of hot water in the shower which is so much appreciated after a day out in the Serengeti. Our patio overlooked the Serengeti and had a day bed and table and chairs. You can oder whatever drinks you want and the butler will appear very shortly with them so you can sit on the patio and enjoy the view which often included zebras, and gazelles. Beds were top hotel quality, surrounded with mosquito netting, although I saw no mosquitoes during our stay. Bottled water is provided in plentiful supply and if you need more, well the butler will bring more. Communication is by a phone on the tents desk. We also enjoyed having drinks by the bonfire and watching the silent movies displayed on an outdoor screen. The bartender in the lounge tent is impressive and he was able to prepare anything guests ordered very quickly. He also had the best coffee available as needed. At night you are escorted between your tent and the common areas by friendly Masai guards who keep watch through the night. The game drives were excellent and a couple of times we went on all day drives taking a delicious picnic lunch with us. The guide knew all the best spots to see the kinds of wildlife we wanted to see. I suggest an early departure on game drives, say 6:00 am or
so when animals are still active and other visitors are still asleep. We spent a wonderful day looking for rhinos, unsuccessfully because they are scarce and shy, but we saw many other wildlife, dreamscape type scenery and visited the Rhino project with a talk from the local ranger. A visit to One Nature could not be more comfortable and at the same time allow one to view the Serengeti at its wildest.

Great location and unbelievable service even in the middle of the Serengeti. Absolutely wonderful staff, Dido and Deo made our stay very memorable. We visited other camps and One Nature was our favorite. We would love to go back.

We had an amazing experience in this hotel. Dido and his staff are amazing, although we were in the middle of the jungle, they helped us fixing our laptop . The food is INCREDIBLE! The rooms are a dream, we will definitely be back!

Dear Karla,

Thank you for taking the time to write such wonderful feedback. It makes us very happy to know that you had an amazing time.

Fixing a laptop in the middle of the wilds was definitely quite an interesting experience for Dido and the staff (they made it a personal mission to get that laptop running!) and their excitement when the laptop was eventually fixed might have been greater than yours :)

Kindly trust that your lovely review will be shared to the rest of the team who will be thrilled to know that you have enjoyed your stay with us.

We look forward to welcoming you back here again to your home in the Serengeti soon.

I have stayed at several camps in Tanzania and South Africa over the years however none have been as comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable as One Nature Nyaruswiga. The feature that makes the biggest difference is the friendliness and capabilities of the excellent staff. Every staff member from managers to guides to wait staff and night watch are very cheerful and ready to make your stay unforgettable. Our tent was large, clean, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed including an outdoor shower and a bathtub. Wifi in the tents and common areas. Sitting on the patio watching the plains was a very special experience. There is a large comfortable lounge with an amazing bartender and selection of any drink imaginable. We had a specially assigned butler who anticipated every need and quietly took care of everything. The dining room can hold its own with the finest restaurants anywhere and every meal was delicious. Impressive wine selection. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us to see sights we have not seen on other safaris. Our ride was an open safari car that gives you a great sense of the country itself, not just the animals. Great picnic lunches were also a special treat. The camp has two family tents which looked like a perfect option for families or a group of friends. Location is not far from the airport and visitor centre. The staff here really made our stay a wonderful experience all around.

Dear Roxtor,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and wonderful review

It makes us very happy to know that you enjoyed yourself and your kind words truly serve to inspire us to work harder and be better in everything that we do.

The Serengeti is a truly magnificent and magical place, and nothing gives us more pleasure than to show our guests all the awe-inspiring beauty that can be found here. And yes, we very much agree that experiencing the game drive in an open safari vehicle does make the sense of discovery even more thrilling :)

Rest assured that your kind words will be relayed to the team back at the camp and know that such positive feedback will surely keep them smiling even more warmly and go about their days even more cheerfully.

We hope to welcome you back soon to your home in the Serengeti.

My Partner and I recently spent 4 nights at the One Nature camp in the Serengeti National Park. As someone who has travelled extensively and stayed in some pretty luxurious resorts, my expectations were high. It was also our first safari experience and so was eagerly anticipated.

What an amazing time we had and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations in every respect. It is difficult to know where to start sharing the positives about this place.

Firstly, it has to be the team - the One Nature family. Indeed, that is the experience Dido and his team work so hard to create and they work tirelessly and yet effortlessly to make you feel part of that family. You meet pretty much everyone and being an exclusive resort, you are quickly all on first name terms. Your personal butler (Peter in our case) takes care of your every need during your stay from you 5:30am wake up call, to lighting the fire in your room before you turn in at night.

Next, it has to be the safari itself and other reviews dont perhaps mention this enough. After all, the main reason for your visit is presumably to learn about and see the unbelievable animals and wildlife in the park. In the 4 days were we there, we saw everything we had hoped to see; Lions a plenty, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, zebra, elephants - the list goes on.

Our very own guide, Peter, knew exactly where to take us to see so many of the animals. His knowledge and passion (as well as incredible eyesight) guaranteed us a complete experience. The whole thing was more than just encounters with the animal, we also learned so much about them. Our highlight has to be the huge male lion laying in the road just a few feet from our jeep.

We have to mention the tent accommodation. It has every luxury you could want and some you didnt even know you wanted. It is hard to believe you are in the middle of the Serengeti. The food and drink was exceptional and unlike many other all inclusive resorts, everything was most definitely premium.

Finally, all the little extra touches and ‘surprises’ made our stay a wonderful experience. Other reviews mention these if you are interested, but for us they were a complete surprise and so we won’t spoil things by mentioning them here!

What we would say is please don’t be naive like us about the changes in temperature. Believe the reviews when they say it can be pretty chilly in the mornings and evenings, but roasting in the day so take plenty of layers!

Dear John,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely and detailed review of our camp. We feel very privileged that you have chosen us as your hosts for your first safari experience and it is very heartwarming to know that you and your partner enjoyed your stay.

Each and every member of the One Nature family love what we do and words of appreciation, such as you have expressed, is what fuels our passion to serve and excel in everything that we do.

Our safari guides take much pride in ensuring that our guests get to see all the wonders that the Serengeti has to offer, and this is why they feel as much (if not more) excitement and enthusiasm as you have for every wild animal sighting that they got to show you :)

Please know that your kind words will be conveyed to Dido, the two Peters :), as well as the rest of the team. Hearing about your wonderful feedback is sure to make them very, very happy.

Thank you once again and we hope to welcome you back here again to your home in the Serengeti soon.

Highly recommend this luxury camp. The food was excellent. When we returned after a safari it felt like returning home. It was my son’s birthday and the cam put on an open air dinner next to a open fire for us - more impressive they arrange a showing of lion king for us . The central Serengeti is an amazing location with regular Lion sightings
