Wonderful place - intimate, warm, well equipped and stylish home. Great spots to sit, beautiful views out to sea, soothing ocean breeze. Great staff and management. Very comfortable room and bed, good AC if required, and good box mosquito nets and netting on windows. Tasty food, and flexible arrangements - can have all meals there. Lulled to sleep by sound of wind and waves.

We simply loved it here. As our first two nights in Tanzania we arrived minus one bag containing all my wife's clothes which without Tin Tin's help could have been tricky. She not only leant my wife some of her clothes , Thor her partner, helped chase up the missing luggage which arrived the next day.
The food too was delicious and despite a few showers we made the best of the sea facing garden. Such an intimate hotel in a crazy city was a true find.

Perfect place to spend a night! A bit outside of downtown Dar it offers a quiet location at the beach, just the Sound of the waves. Lovely owners and staff. They also gave good advice about the places to visit in Dar. It feels like home away from home. Cozy room too.

Upepo Gardens is awesome! Jacob and Tin Tin have done an amazing job with this very homely comfortable place. The rooms are great, super comfy big beds, amazingly decorated throughout with local products which shows they support local workshops and industry. The food is excellent and lots of choice for brekkie. ALL the staff are 5 star, fro the barman to the garderner...they really have the sweetest people in Tanzania working there!! Its right on the beach and as the tide comes in in the afternoon you can swim on the rock free beach. It looks far from Dar but really is just a quick tuktuk ride away which they will arrange for you. There is also a local bar outside for a beer and taste of local life. I went ot a yoga class with the ownder whihc was superb. Thank you guys for an amazing stay...i'll be back :)

Room tip: Sea view rooms are definitely worth the extra cost, place is good for kids

We stayed in Upepo Garden in July 2016 to celebrate our birthdays !
What a gem this little hotel, we were soo lucky to have booked this !

Our stay was so nice and cosy, the place run by Jacob and Tin-Tin.
We had the 2 sea view rooms and the beds were very very comfortable.
Nice big spacious rooms, comfortable bathroom, lovely little details everywhere...

Our birthdays were celebrated with Champagne, delicious wines (Tin-Tin is sommelier!) and great food, also cooked by Tin-Tin ( it was so long ago I had such a nice and tender steak ! and to get this in Africa was amazing) and lovely deserts !

Even the morning from our departure to Masaai land we were given lunch boxes and drinks !

There is a lovely little island nearby with the whitest beach.
The water is blue and clean, so we had a swim there and sunbathed and had some drinks and food, we had a lovely day....

Thanks Jacob and Tin-Tin, we enjoyed our stay fully by you !
If ever we go back to Tanzania we come and stay with you !
