I was here the beginning of January for a 4-day workshop. In advance we were very worried about the critical reviews.

Apart from a few not so friendly staff and curious paperwork, I must say the hotel was fine. Good meeting rooms, good wireless (we arranged a global account each day); plentiful and tasty lunches; on time coffee and tea breaks; comfortable rooms; great sea views and swimming (colleagues went each day) ... though one colleague continued to say it was very poor!

We had excellent 'king prawns' from the restaurant menu.

Room Tip: Room 410 (and those above it) have sea views in two directions.

came here with some trepidation after reading the trip advisor reviews that were quite negative. surprised to find a very nice resort on a beautiful beach (yes it would be nice if there were not some plastic bags in the water) with great swimming at high tide. Staff are very nice and food is good....setting and especially the lovely sea breeze are great...much better than the reviews made it sound. Rooms are nice, not super fancy but good and comfortable and internet connection good.
the support to our workshop was very good...i think the other reviewers have been waaayy too hard on this property.

We stayed there for one night only. The place is beautiful! That's for sure. The problem is the staff that is not all that inspired. Everything took a while - if it happened at all. We wanted the connecting door between our two doors, an in the process of making that happen the staff asked us to go out while they sprayed the room against mosquitoes. Nothing wrong with that. However they managed to look both us and themselves out. And we had out bathing stuff inside. It took a while to get in again. Warp speed was not used… The AC did not work in one of the rooms, and that was not fixed, despite our mentioning it few times. So the night was very hot indeed.
On the positive side: the beach was really nice, and I think that the food was quite ok actually!!!

If you are used to 4 star hotels in Europe and North America you will find this hotel to be 2.5 stars, not 4 stars as they claim. That said, for Africa this may be a 4 star quality hotel.

Pros:
It's on the beach, so the location is great
The landscapes are beatiful and the hotel, on the outside, looks very nice
They have mosquito nets and spray the room in the evenings

Cons:
On the inside the rooms are very outdated, water damage in our hotel bathroom that was very evident.
The food at the hotel was very average (I'd compare it to TGI Fridays)
The internet connections is the worst!!!
The front desk staff member offered to get us ferry tickets to Zanzibar. He said the tickets were $40 per person. We thought he was very generous for going out of his way to get our tickets by driving to the ferry before work and getting the tickets to us. But when we did some research, we found that they are $40 which is true, however, he planned to get us the resident tickets which were $15, pocket the difference and send us on our way. The ferry staff checks the tickets and we would have been out $40 each if we would have taken the deal because we are not Tanzania residents. And the fine for that is you have to go buy a non-resident ticket, another $40 each. My rule here is, watch what you are offered, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I have unfortunately had the same experiences as many people before. Poor service, tasteless, high calory (fat) food. Walking up and down the reception four times in order to get the door of my room open. Not anyone joining you, not helpful, nothing. The conferencem however, was ok and ran smoothly.

But one thing more: internet! If I remember well, we paid 10 dollars a day, yes you read it well, with internet not working in the rooms. Most annoyingly, every day you need to get new codes provided and it was definitely not possible to give a code for the entire week. Shame on you , India IT people! What a mess

With partners, we organized an international conference for about 60 people this week. Everything had been pre-agreed (Nr of rooms, facilities) in writing, months before the meeting date (13-14 sep). Unfortunately, bad surprises were there from the moment we arrived, until the moment we left: it started with the meeting room not set as per agreement, women's lavatories in totally disgusting shape (uncleaned, without paper), then coffee & cakes not there although pre-agreed, attendees charged for wi-fi while it was pre-agreed it would be free of charge, and internet was only available at some places and at some times, the LCD projector collapsed during the meeting with no back-up, staff who does not understand what customer service means. The bedrooms were OK with a very nice view on the sea, but the bednets had several holes, and objects in the bathroom need urgently fixing. But the biggest issue we had to face was that 10 rooms (out of 60 booked) were not available when the travellers arrived after a long international flight. The staff at the reception was totally hopeless to manage the customers, and the managers denied having been informed about the exact number, while the full booking had all been acknowledged by them in writing previously. After 1h, they finally dispatched the unlucky travellers to a hotel closeby - it was late at night. The managers finally apologized for this but did not propose any compensation for the inconvenience. I swear I will never organize a conference there again.

Room Tip: ask a room with view on the sea

Let's start with the good side : the location! very nice, the hotel looks good too from outside but that is it!

the service is absolutely ridiculous. no motivation at all from any employee i have seen exept the luggage guys.
Breakfast is until 10:30am. Fine i understand. Arriving at 11am, i just asked if i can order something else. answer NO. ok, then just let me buy a piece of bread, answer : NO. no order possible before 12.30am... bread was there, i could just have grabbed one, but "no" said the very unfriendly waitress. Everyone was rude anyway at the restaurant.

The food itself was disgusting. the pizzas have just the name to know what it is. I am not difficult for food but that was really disgusting. Everything in the noon buffet was cold. not lukewarm, cold. When we complained about it the waiter put his hand on the food in the buffet and put it back as he had burnt himself, laughing. ridiculous!

The hotel is bragging about wifi in the all hotel. Fine, but it was not working. when complaining at the reception or asking about when we could expect to have some network the answer was either "tomorrow" or "in half an hour"

The pool area is fine but everything around it doesn't work. staff are not interested in your well being at all

Am very disapointed and will not go back for sure
