This lovely resort gives you uninterrupted views of the ocean - and a glorious sunrise. The resort is very over the top but you would expect this from a place aimed at the mega $$.
Rooms are fantastic, food is excellent and the view............priceless.

As the name suggests this hotel is on a cliff at the Ocean. Frequented this place with friends during my stay in Dar es Salaam in 2011 and 2012.

The menu offers many options for food and beverage. The cost of the beer both local and imported is average and not a rip off for the star rated hotel in Dar es Salaam. Enjoyed the view from the open restaurant on top of the cliff overlooking the ocean.

We frequented this place due to the view and food option. Hotel also offers helicopter rides at an additional price.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms facing the ocean on the 2nd and 3rd floor.

Dear Sarin N,

Thank you for the flattering remarks about Karambezi restaurant. It is indeed a fabulous view and we offer a wide variety of food & beverage options that cater to all kinds of guests. I have passed your feedback to their manager Markus, please do not hesitate to introduce yourself to him upon your next visit!

I've been staying at the Sea Cliff hotel on a regular basis for the past few years, mainly because of its proximity to my office and lack of a better option. The staff in general very nice, although the reception could improve. Most of the rooms are spacious but usually you can find a few faults, like not working lights or leaking toilet. The laundry service is great and very fast. Karambezi Restaurant is good, however you cannot get in there without staff following your every move, which is very uncomfortable. The main disadvantage is their booking system - a lot of times they claim they are fully booked, when in fact they aren't, which is extremely frustrating and the wireless internet - you need to get a password every day! The pool is amazing and very relaxing and beds are very comfortable.
Be aware of the taxi drivers that are attached to the hotel - usually they try to rip you off and they are quite lazy so it is very difficult to actually make them go somewhere!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms, ideally 101, 201 or 301 (for those who want to have a little office space)

Dear Annas12349,

Thank you for the feedback. Your comments are very useful and valuable to us as we are constantly improving management to cater the needs of our guests more efficiently. Incidents such as lights not working or leaking toilets are usually reported to housekeeping and fixed within a short amount of time. Next time you are in the hotel, please do not hesitate to give our Guest Relations Manager a call and she will ensure these matters are taken care of. Also, our booking system is very accurate in terms of availability; you may have encountered this due to last minute cancellations.

We are glad that you enjoyed the pool and overall found your stay to be comfortable. In case you are looking for other means of transportation besides the Taxis, the hotel does provide safe and reliable transport at a similar cost for the convenience of our guests.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Nana (our guest relations manager) for assistance upon your next visit.

Kind Regards,

Chandni Vithlani

I returned to the SeaCliff again for the lovely setting, the proximity to shops and restaurants and the friendly and helpful staff. If your business centers around Msasani peninsula, few traffic worries-except of the airport drive. I always felt safe as a Western woman alone. I used and appreciated the business center and the delicious and underused Alcove Restaurant-quieter than the lively (read loud) Karambezi. The pool is the best! Now if only they could replace the aging AC system..

Room Tip: ocean side!

Dear Kigali,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us again. The safety of our guests is a priority and it gives me great pleasure to read that you felt comfortable during your stay with us. The peninsula is a beautiful location and our hotel predominately caters for a quite & peaceful atmosphere, at the same time offering a variety of shops & restaurants nearby which guests can enjoy. I apologize about the AC system and will make sure to pass the feedback to our Maintenance team.

We hope to welcome you again this year!

Based on recommendations from others, I had had booked two nights at Sea Cliff. When I arrived, they insisted there was no booking in the system, even though mine was paid up front, and confirmed. As they were fully booked, they couldn't give me a room. After checking in at the Serena, where I usually stay in when I'm in Dar, and where the service in excellent, I called Expedia and asked for a full refund for the stay at Sea Cliff. They contacted the hotel, and got the response that as per hotel policies, Sea Cliff could only refund the second night, as it was already late in the evening of the first day! In other words, guests who have paid upfront, get turned away because their bookings have "disappeared", yet can't get a refund as per hotel policies. Outright theft!

Dear Bauck,

Whilst it is very disappointing to learn of your bad experience, it is important to note the following; As of the 28th of November, the hotel had been fully booked for your request of dates which were the 5th & 6th of December. We find it difficult to understand how Expedia processed your reservation request. This being said, the matter will be taken up with them directly. Please understand that Hotel Sea Cliff had no reservation confirmation from Expedia nor was any payment processed to Hotel Sea Cliff from Expedia for your reservation.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience suffered and will offer you our full assistance in taking up this matter with expedia, to ensure your full refund.

Great restaurant, nice location by the sea, pleasant staff, clean... nothing to complain about - apart from the drive into the centre of town. There is a helicopter on site but that seemed a bit excessive to use as a taxi. I think you can use it to get to the airport if you're feeling a bit James Bond.

Room Tip: Insist on a sea view.

Dear Rexlombardo,

Thank you for the pleasant review. We are happy to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us. The helicopter is a great facility we have on site for guests who would like to explore the city. Most of our guests also love the convenience of planning a trip to Zanzibar Island and safaris right from the Hotel!

We hope you enjoyed Dar es Salaam and return to stay with us in the future.

A great choice for a Westerner when staying in the city. Rooms are good and there is good security. You will be aggressively peddled to on the beach, but such is Africa. Decent food and attentive staff will help with anything you need.
