“Fine hotel, rooms somewhat small.”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Stayed at this hotel as part of our travel through Tanzania. The location in the centre of the city is fine although there are no shops/restaurants in the immediate vicinity, which does necessitate a taxi if you want to venture from the hotel. It is a typical business hotel where you will find few shorts during the working days. The hotel is comfortable, clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The quality of food is excellent and with sufficient variety to eat there for a few days. The rooms are somewhat small (think New York measurements) which is strange considering compared with some other locations we visited in Africa. We understood that real estate in the centre of Dar Es Salaam is at premium because getting in and out of the city during rush hour is murder as we can vouch for. Luckily when you are travelling from the hotel to a location outside of the city you are going at the opposite direction. However if you need to go to the airport at the end of the day please allow quite a bit of extra time. Overall very good value.

Room Tip: During the weekend ask for a room on the front side, as the backside is exposed to an open air party...

Dear Vinker

Thanks very much for taking the time to reflect on your recent stay with us! I am delighted that you enjoyed our restaurants and very happy that my team took good care of you. As you point out our location in a quiet part of the CBD is useful especially when one needs to catch the Ferry or travel to the airport out of the peak times, but can be trying during the rush hour, as it is for all of us here in the city. We will shortly be refurbishing our bedrooms, adding some luxury , modernizing and make better use of the room space - I hope one day you will return and sample!
Best Wishes and Karibu Tena

I cannot fault this hotel in anyway from the doormen, porters reception staff, waitrons and managers who gave excellent service. A lady called Amina in the business office was particularly gracious, friendly and helpful. The Food Manger called Tyrone was simply put, the very best. I liked the way he and the Chef were in the dining room throughout the meal times watching every detail. A lovely tranquil place in a very busy and hectic Dar es Salaam. And lastly but not least was our wonderful taxi driver called Musa who went the' 2nd mile' in his service to us. I highly recommend him and so ask for him if you need a taxi - he is well known at the reception desk.

Room Tip: My room was quite and tranquil.

I have stayed several times at this hotel over the years and have never been disappointed. The same high standard has been maintained since day one, a rare thing in this industry. The service is friendly and the food always good. Management presence is noticeable and they take the time to interact with their guests. Front desk is helpful too and always acknowledges your presence even when they are busy attending someone else. There is a small fitness center that has what one needs as well as a safari operator and a small gift shop in the hotel. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of the CBD and i have always felt safe walking around regardless of the time of day.

The high standards have been maintained since my last visit. Very good food at the restaurant and an inclusive breakfast that is as good as any top class hotel.

I stayed, firstly two nights to acclimatise to the African heat and humidity and two nights on my return to Dar from Pemba - were a very welcome luxury. The hotel taxi is reasonably priced to the airport, not much more than a local.

Recommended.

Room Tip: The hotel is usually full during the week - aimed at business travellers - there is plenty of rooms...

After a long flight from Uk with changes at Nairobi we were pretty exhausted arriving in Dar Ea Salaam on route to our safari holiday. The staff could not have been more helpful, especially Mercy. They knew who we were on arrival which is always nice when you are tired. ps the taxi drive from the airport was pretty epic. Rooms were excellent and the bar staff and restaurant staff were great. Food was very good and the breakfast was buffet style. The staff even organised a trip to an african night club called the Mango Tree on the outskirts where we heard the fanyastic African Stars. The ideal place to settle into the african experience before going on to more hard core activities in the bush.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the pool would be nice.

A week at this hotel for business was pleasant. The room was well proportioned and equipped with modern walk in shower and decent air conditioning a must in the humidity. The cleaners were diligent and thorough. The breakfast was excellent with attentive service and a good range. I had one meal at the hotel restaurant which is South African inspired cuisine and very good, sitting outside the flies can get rather tedious but that is not due to any apparent sanitary issues. There was two days out internet outage but this was down to undersea cable damage and the management put up notices to keep guests informed. Overall good stay, will return.

Hi Smarshy12
Thanks for your feedback and for taking your time to post these on Trip Advisor. I am delighted that we took good care of you and that you enjoyed your stay, makes my teams hard work worth it!
Sorry about the flies, it is a 'seasonal irritation' that occurs when the prevailing winds slow down. Sorry also about the internet cable. We thought our ISP had a more robust contingency in place. We have subseqnenlty asked them to improve on their redundancy.
Best Wishes and Karibu Tena Dar es Salaam!

Have stayed here twice now and both times we experienced very helpful customer service - by email before arrival and during our whole stay. The doormen gave good recommendations, the restaurant served great food, and gift shop staff were friendly. We enjoyed the adjoining botanical gardens and also used the exercise room. The arranged airport transfer was efficient, comfortable, and friendly. (Our group was 6 people one time and 4 people the second time.). The climate control in the rooms is great, especially when not used to the humidity. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
