Actually this place should be called the No1 ""Streetfood"" restaurant in Dar. I have based my points accordingly as this is a simple street food place.
There are a few such places in Dar that are worth trying: Mamboz in Town, BBQ House in Upanga and BBQ Village in Msasani.
All of them use the same idea. Marinate and Barbecued meats in typical swahili indian mix.
Mamboz is an excellent version of this. The street setting just adds to the aroma. There is also good service as the family that run the place are always present personally watching the show.
Grab a seat - it gets busy so be ready and then try a bit of everything. The Sheekh Kebabs were excellent, the grilled chicken is good especially the hot one, and the nundu (cattle hump) was great but avoid the masala nundu as it overpowers the nundu meat flavor. We also tried the grilled fish which was awesome. Everything comes with chips, bread, salad and chutneys.
At these prices you cant complain anyhow. Well done Mamboz!
