The rooms are a bit smaller compared to other options in downtown, yet the hotel provides all the superior amenities to make your stay comfortable. The Slipway is the center of nightlife in the peninsula: several restaurants, stores, ATM, FOREX and a supermarket. Nonetheless the rooms are very quiet even Friday night. On Saturday, you can take the ferry service to Bongoyo Island.

The breakfast is very good, a bit skimpy in the fruit selection, yet the Spanish omelet is very tasty. Overall service is very good, the night manager could have been a bit more professional the first night, yet the day staff is excellent.

I spent a couple of days at this small hotel outside Dar before flying to my destination in Southern Africa. It was incredible value and a terrific location outside the bustle of Dar but close to Coco Beach and other beach areas. The hotel is beautifully designed - the rooms all surround an open inner courtyard. The staff were terrific - helpful, friendly and delightful. Breakfasts were great and the little cafe was delightful. Overall, a really great stay and would return in a heartbeat.

travelling through Dar es Salaam one feels is definitively feels he has finally arrived in Africa, with is side-roads market, the fast moving tuck-tuck and the colorfully dressed locals.

then you'll reach the slipway, an oasis on the Indian Ocean. From the typical tinga-tinga decoration on the facade throught to the Souk with its ottoman feel, the Slipway has something to catch one eye, in every corner.

the reception is spacious, well arranged, light and modern. the service is delightful and the staff very helpful.

the rooms are tastefully decorated, mixing classic with eastern touches. bright and light. the balcony overlooking the ocean provide you with breathtaking views and a pleasant breeze.
everything is spotlessly clean and the beds are most comfortable providing you with peaceful sleep aided by a perfectly functioning air conditioner.
the room is also fitted with a small fridge to keep those small necessities at hand-reach.

Breakfast will satisfy any customer and the welcoming smile of the hotel manager is as heart-warming as Tanzania's sunrise.

I had a wonderful stay at the Slipway and i would recommend it to anyone seeking a bit of magic for their stay in Dar es Salam

I stayed in the hotel last year and was not overly impressed. But this year it has certainly gone down. The reception is matter-of-fact without much sense of hospitality. Rooms are simple but airco works well. My room telephone did not work while I was expecting outside hone calls. It could not be repaied or replaced at 5:00 pm, but I was proised that it would be replaired the next day. Nothing of the kind however.......
Other faults: water kettle does not work properly, key card refuses sometimes, TV offers only commercial channels, lights are cumbersome to operate over various switches
