We only spent one night in room 6 on our way down from Tarifa but loved it and want to come back! The perfect blend of Moroccan and French touches which epitomises the style of old Tangier. The location in the Kasbah is peaceful and there are wonderful views from the terrace. Service is discreet and the owner is friendly and helpful. We particularly loved the old radios in every corner wired to play classical music in the morning and jazz in the evening. A really nice touch.

Room Tip: The rooms get better on the higher floors.

Wonderful stay in Room 5 at the Tangerina in Dec. 2013. We loved the ambiance of the Tangerina - soft music that plays in the lobby, little nooks everywhere. Weather was poor for our visit so unfortunately we never experienced breakfast or really any time at all on the terrace upstairs, but we found the Tangerina completely pleasant and a great spot high atop the city. Our bed was perfectly comfortable for the nap that we needed after walking all the way home, up the hill, from the Petit Socco or the beach! A word of caution - this hotel is NOT sound proof. You can practically hear the person on the other side of the hotel turn over in his/her bed at night. Noise travels easily throughout the hotel. Lovely otherwise!

Room Tip: Room 5 was very nice - no view to speak of, but charming and clean - bedroom is set off up a step an...

My partner and I booked the room number 10 suite for 2 nights to launch our 2-week vacation throughout Morocco. Based on TripAdvisor reviews of La Tangerina and Tangier, we chose this guesthouse as a place to relax and overcome our jet lag (flight from North America) prior to setting out to Fes, Marrakech, and a hiking trip in the High Atlas.

The guesthouse is truly charming. Room 10 is the rooftop suite that opens onto the large rooftop terrace, where breakfast is served each morning. This room also has its own small terrace off the back. We actually preferred the communal terrace with its awesome view of the ocean and its very comfortable outdoor furnishings. It's a great place to read, nap, and . . . recover from jet lag. Waking up in the morning and opening the french doors onto the terrace overlooking the ocean is the best way to start a vacation!

The staff were very accommodating, and the meal we had there was very, very good. (Meals must be booked a day or so in advance!) Excellent Moroccan wine from the Meknes Region was available at dinner. I especially appreciate the efforts of the hotel office manager to find our luggage, which Iberia Airlines lost! FYI, Iberia does not provide delivery of lost luggage -- even when it's their fault. They simply said, "your luggage did not make the transfer; come back to the airport tomorrow to retrieve it." The hotel staff took care of this whole mess on our behalf. They called the airport, verified the arrival of our delayed luggage, and arranged for a taxi service to bring the luggage to the hotel. We only had to pay for the one-way cab fare for the luggage, which was very reasonable. The office manager really did save the day -- literally!

It is true that La Tangerina has a cash-only policy. Take this into account when planning your stay, and be prepared to reimburse them any fees they may incur from wire transfer or PayPal. I found this kind of situation to be commonplace throughout Morocco. For each of our cash-only hotels, I chose to pay in advance through a wire transfer so that I would not need to retrieve and cary large amounts of cash.

This was a beautiful accommodation in a perfect location. The staff is so nice and go above and beyond to help you. The rooms are very well appointed and creative use of space. The breakfast is simple but the dinners are divine. We stayed in room 4. We enjoyed it and it was very quiet. The rooftop is beautiful and lovely to relax on. The location is very good and you can walk to many different things in Tangier from this hotel. I highly recommend.

This was my second time staying in La Tangerina - first time was 2009 with family, this time it was the start of a trip with my girlfriend across Morocco. While standards are still high, La Tangerina isn't what it was and while it's very good for Tangier, it pales in comparison to places we stayed elsewhere for the same or lower price.

Positives include the rooms - although Suite 8 (where we slept) has a platform bed above the bathroom which is so close to the ceiling you can't stand up. All rooms contain reconditioned radios with streamed music which is excellent. The roof terrace is spectacular & an amazing place to eat and watch a sunset. The breakfast is quality as is the decor and ambience.

Improvements could focus on guides, connections and taxis. The tour guide arranged for us in Tangier was average - his knowledge seemed limited and he took us to a carpet shop at the end! Make it clear if you're not interested in buying things that you don't want to visit carpet shops!! The taxi the hotel booked for us on the last day for the train station was late - we could have easily missed the connection but there was a shrug of the shoulders when we queried the delay.

A plus was that Mochine helped us find accommodation in Fez which was first class.

I'd say, like 2009, it's still the best in Tangier. But having travelled through Morocco this time (unlike last time) La Tangerina doesn't meet the standards you'll encounter elsewhere.

My husband and I stayed here for one night in March 2014. The location is perfect - near the Medina and the Kasbah. The hotel is beautifully decorated. We stayed in one of the larger suites, but peeked in all the rooms. Each one is unique and very comfortable. Lovely roof deck with a view of the ocean. This is one of the most charming places I have ever stayed and would recommend it to anyone.

Stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 3 and it was a good choice in the old medina.

Has a very authentic feel with retro radios, birds in cages chirping away and the terrace has a great view.
Nice fireplace in reception area.

Ate here one night and the tagine was tasty.

Rooms are really clean with loads of character, we had room 8 and it was warm, quiet and comfortable.
