My husband & I stayed at the Rembrandt Hotel for one night on a side trip from Spain. The location was 15 minutes walking distance from the ferry terminal (up hill or up stairs), and a convenient walk to the Medina. Our room was basic and a bit worn, but clean. Two single use packets of Pret shampoo were left for us, along with a bar of soap...but no trash can. The hotel is just outside the old part of town and there are banks & restaurants conveniently located, if needed. The hotel also has a pool, but the weather was cold & raining, so we did not go out to use it.

Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful, but were not able to make change in Euros or Dirhams for taxis, so plan accordingly. A taxi driver may tell you that he has no change so that you must pay a higher price. remember, tourists seem rich in this area and they can look to make more money off of us.

We were given room 210, which faced a building next door. If you leaned out the window, you could see a bit of the water. We paid 40 Euros for one night (2 people) through Expedia, which included a continental breakfast. This was a good bargain for the hotel since it was low season. The room was spacious & reasonably comfortable.

Rembrandt hotel is a good choice if wanting to see tangier on a budget. we booked a twin room for less than €50 a night with otel.com.

yes the hotel is a bit worn as are the rooms but it was clean, tv reception isn't the best though, small bar, free breakfast and a pool, the rooms are quite large

in a great location on what looked to be one of the main streets in tangier, very busy but then every street in tangier is very busy. about 15 mins walk from the ferry terminal and only 5 minutes walk from the beach (down the narrow street that becomes a very narrow alley to the right of the hotel.

I stayed here for one night before heading on over to Spain. The hotel is in a great spot right in the centre of town but we wary of the theiving taxi drivers at the train station - you should pay absolutely no more than 15 dihram for a small taxi here.

The reception staff were absolutely fantastic, really friendly, helpful and very thoughtful. Unfortunately the only 2 rooms left were right at the front on the second floor and be warned these can be very very noisy as the hotel is literally on the main intersection of the main street.

The rooms are quite dated and the beds are VERY soft but it was clean and comfy and spacious. They seem to be in the process of doing up / painting some of the rooms too. Theres a small telly that has BBC world news. Breakfast was included and was really good and I´d also recommend the restaurant for an evening meal - delicious!

Overall its a great spot with superb staff and good value for money.

I stayed at the Rembrandt a week. The room had a gorgeous view of the pool and gardens, the beach, and the bay. The service was friendly and efficient. There was excellent security, at least 2 staff members at the door 24 hours a day (I was a single woman traveling alone). A charming bar and restaurant had more than adequate meals - both Western and Moroccan menus. The salade nicoise I ordered was the best I have ever had. For breakfast (included) the waiter memorized my order so on the 3rd day I no longer needed to tell him; he brought it immediately as I entered. The room was always clean and the bathroom was spacious. I enthusiastically recommend this hotel to anyone and I will definitely stay here again. Other guests were from England, Spain, and Germany; I am American. It is worth the little bit extra charge to have a room with a view, You are only a few blocks from all the sites and ideally located for exploring the city. I highly recommend eating in the restaurant and enjoying some mint teas in the bar. I don't think you will be disappointed. You can't go wrong here.

Our stay at the Rembrandt went quite well, and I would look at the prior reviews that were not overly negative as your guide to what you get. The location is very good, though on a busy street. The rooms are dated, but quite functional and overall, comfortable. Indeed, the datedness feel I found rather nice as I often feel those hotels are a bit less stale. It has a pool (not big), and places to relax around the pool (though this area also is right outside the bar, which can be a plus or a minus). The breakfast is reasonable, and you can buy an omelette if you wish.

My minor disappointment was with the front desk staff. They were not as helpful as they might be, and seemed put out at times.

We stayed at the Rembrandt on April 29, 2008. The hotel is in a great location on one of the main boulevards, close to the port and to the medina, but the traffic is quite busy and the air is full of diesel fumes. The hotel looks nice inside, with large lobby and decorated in local style hallways, although a little tired. We got a room on the first floor which was marvelous - big, nicely decorated with carpets on the walls, great new bathroom ... and some strange unpleasant odour. So we changed it. The second one was by far not that nice - TV and half of the lamps were not working, bathroom was mediocre, and there was dust on the furniture, but no smell, so we spent the night there. There is a pool, the staff is friendly, but beware what room you will get!

I'm not sure who would recommend this place. We were only passing through Tangier. Luckily we only had to stay in this place for one night. The room we had was noisy, dirty, and falling apart. The only thing I can say is at least the sheets appeared to be clean. We only booked this because it was last minute and everything else was too expensive or booked.
