I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, because I really like old buildings, and this is a charming one. At this hotel you can feel like the guests at the film 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel', in a place with historical value, beautiful old building, but with a lack of confort and facilities.
If you have problems climbing stairs, don't even think about staying at this hotel. The staff is also not able to help you with your luggage even if they want to, because they are old men.
WIFI WORKS VERY WELL EVERYWHERE!!!
Staff members can speak english well.
I wouldn't stay there again because the neighbourhood close to the harbour is not the best place to stay inTangier. For my surprise, the city has many more pleasant places to stay, with lots of squares full of people at the end of the day and many cafes and restaurants.
It is hard to believe that the you can get there with the car, because the 'streets' inside the medina are very narrow. You have to be brave to dare driving until the parking place.

Room Tip: ask for a room with view to the harbour

One newspaper article stated when you stay at this hotel you feel like you are in the movie, the English Patient. I could not agree more from its unique charm to its fantastic views - this hotel was a must stay for me even with its less than comfortable room (especially without air conditioning). I understand the points regarding this vs. riads but Tangier is not the same type of city as Fez or Marrakech - having the experience of being around the port is extremely important and culturally significant as a riad.
I was disappointed in the room. However, breakfast was great, internet worked well, and the common areas were unique and interesting. Even with the issues, the stay was an experience and I would stay there again especially as an individual female traveler.

Let me start by saying that I stayed here only one night and this is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Aside from that, I feel that it lacks the Moroccan cultural aspect that smaller riads can offer at a much better price. While we had a spacious room, the bathroom lacked a shower curtain, causing water to be sprayed all over the whole bathroom. Aside from that, there are two terraces with astonishing views of the port and several beautifully decorated rooms near the lobby. This is a large hotel though and one must sacrifice the small cultural aspect in staying here, it felt very catered to outsiders.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that faces the port if you want a great view!

This hotel was recommended to me by the G Adventures tour guide. It was conveniently located and the staff was extremely helpful. Stop in the shop run by Jimmy. He's a wealth of information about the hotel and the area.

Room Tip: Get one overlooking the Sea. Nice breeze and no need for AC. Single rooms are tiny, but I wasn'...

Thankfully we only spent one night in this Hotel prior to catching the ferry to Spain. Having spent the prior 10days staying in reasonably priced yet lovely Riads throughout Morocco, perhaps this gave us unfair expectations... As previous reviews have noted, lovely views of the port, good location if the weather is playing ball, and the fast ferry is running from Tangier Port.
Unfortunately for us this was not the case and we needed to drive to Tangier Med in order to catch the slower ferry.

We had a double room on the third (top floor), which was a hefty climb with our luggage considering there is no elevator and we were not offered any assistance with our luggage. There was no air conditioning, the toilet was broken as was the shower. (They both were functional, but broken.) The wardrobe door had also come off its hinges and was leaning jauntily against the wall. The restaurant was also closed for the night. Breakfast was handily included, though it was the first time we had experienced a watered down 'freshly squeezed orange juice,' during our stay in Morocco. On a positive note, we had clean fresh sheets and towels. Would look elsewhere if staying in Tangier again.

While visiting the port town for a day trip from southern Spain, we finished our day with a drink before catching the ferry back.

This hotel harps back to an era that has passed, but has much charm because of that. The views are fine, if a little industrial, but what do you expect from a port?

The service was very friendly and we had an enjoyable couple of hours soaking up the late autumn afternoon sun.

This hotel is nothing short of amazing. The staff are very helpful and gracious. The museum like
decor is worth seeing and never ending. The location just a few steps from the port made it easy to find. The breakfast was great with fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh pastries and strong coffee. Views from the hotel are spectacular and the whole experience was great.
