We spent one week on the Continental and we love it.
+: Located just beside the port (steps from the ferry from Tarifa) and the medina, cheap, beautiful and typical Morrocan decor, clean, friendly staff, working AC. And the terrace where you get to have breakfast...
-: Ok, the room are a bit dated. Let say you feel like a starlett from the '50.

I loved the history and atmosphere of this place and the fact that it was so easy to find (no small thing in Morocco). Like the rest of Tangiers, it was fun to go through and photograph the first time, though it quickly lost its appeal after that. I was happy to have stayed there for one night, though we probably should have moved on after that. Breakfasts were good and the breakfast terrace was wonderful. Insist on a port side room (we were stuck on the medina side, though the hotel couldn't have been more than 30% full). The hammam was closed when we were there.

We had two comfortable nights in the hotel after arriving by ferry from Tarifa (you can walk it and, indeed, see the hotel from the ferry port). Although displaying faded grandeur, we found the hotel clean and comfortable with a decent breakfast and acceptable evening meals. We loved the breakfast room with its traditional Islamic tiling and carved and painted plaster work and the photograph of Humphrey Bogart taken when he stayed in the hotel during the filming of Casablanca. We found the staff very helpful. If possible, ask for one of the rooms overlooking the port which have superb views and their own balconies. It is a short walk from the hotel to the excellent and well maintained beach with many shops and restaurants along its length. The only drawback is the hassle you experience from everyone trying to make a quick buck and you will be ripped off at some time during your stay but you will have an experience to remember.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the port with great views.

A gigantic old hotel well situated on the top of a hill facing the water and city of Tanger, giving it a beautiful scenery. The staff is friendly and the lobby is OK maintained. However. The rooms are of poor standard, old and a bit shady. My friends got a room with a dirty carpet and couch. If it's windy outside there are things outside banging the walls so that you can't sleep, or the windows themselves shake in the wind. The bathrooms we had were OK. The breakfast was poor, but I guess they only eat pastries for breakfast in Morocco. Overall, not a very good hotel but you survive a night there.

When you go to this hotel, you feel liked you've stepped onto a movie set. The hotel personifies faded glory. There is gorgeous tilework and real Moroccan style everywhere. You have to put up with a few funky traits - like a brick missing in the wall between the bathroom and the hall, but all and all, I wouldn't stay anywhere else if you want to get the true feeling of the city. The location was great - walking distance from the ferry, and right on the edge of the market. Breakfast is served either in a lovely sitting room, or on the terrace facing the ocean.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with an ocean view.

We arrived to Tangier on our own car, and have to drive around for a while. It is imposible to get to the hotel through the medina, have to do it from the coast.
Hotel is a bit old but it’s being renewed in some areas.
We got one double and one single room, for one night.
At first they gave us rooms in the third room on the back side of the hotel (old part), with windows facing to a… CHIMNEY!. So, the room was full of smoke. I don’t know how can they use those rooms. Not only it is unpleasant, but it is also dangerous for passangers’ health. Just imagine breathing all that smoke while you are sleeping…
Of course we asked for another couple of rooms. They gave us another rooms the front part of the building, the new part, on the second floor. These rooms were ok.
Breakfast was also correct and they offer free wi-fi.
Location is not so great if you want to go downtown. Hotel is right next to the medina and the port area, but you have 15-20 minute walk to the town centre.
Next time I would try to find another hotel in a better location.

Room Tip: Avoid the old part. Third floor rooms on the back side are directly in from of a huge chimney

We arrived late and the staff was welcoming and very organized. The price is exceptional. The hotel is right next to the ferry terminal so you can walk there and to old town to explore. It is like an old time hotel turned into a youth hostel but with private rooms and baths. The hotel itself has endless rooms to explore and a huge store of all the Moroccan treasures you could ever want. Free internet. Nice porch for coffee overlooking the harbor. The owner was very sweet with our children and let them bargain for items for good prices. A great place to overnight in Tangier.
