Yesterday we had a wonderful day with Majdolina Idrissi on a tour of Tangier. He met us at the ferry and escorted us throughout the old and new parts of the city emphasizing what would be important to an American couple. We also got to experience the outskirts of Tangier that included a camel ride. We did visit a shop and got educated on various styles of rugs but we never felt pressured. Majdolina was a charming host and treated us to coffee and pastries on a nice break, dropped us for a time on our own at a Moroccan restaurant with very local flavor, and escorted us back to our ferry at the end of a very long day. We felt very safe walking among the shops as the locals all seemed to know him and did not hassle us as they probably would have if he had not been there. You can probably waste a lot of time on your own wandering about but it is great to have a local guide. Highly recommended.

There were 96 people waiting for this tour operator to take us on a full day tour in 6 buses. We were left stranded on the pier waiting for one hour and then decided to tour in taxis. Tour was scheduled for November 10 from pier in Agadir Moroco. This was to be a 8 hour tour to Taroudant. He now said that he thought we were arriving on November 29. Be very careful with wording on email and make sure all dates are VERY clear. This was a major disappointment for 96 people.

We booked a 6 hour tour ( a shore excursion) of Tangier with this tour operator prior to our arrival in Tangier. We agreed on a price of 75 Euro each. After a bit of confusion finding Ford, our tour guide, at the dock, we set off with him & our driver Said. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time seeing the sights. After about 2 hours, Ford said we were stopping for a cup of mint tea. What's not to like, right?? Ford took us to a shop & up the stairs where we were seated and each given a glass of hot water with mint leaves in it. Then the hard sell began... after about a half an hour saying "'no thanks, we're not interested in buying a rug", we were led downstairs to the shop where a gentleman followed us around the store trying to sell us all manner of items, purses, bags, souvenirs, etc., etc. After we declined to purchase anything, Ford's attitude towards us took a dramatic turn. We spent another twenty minutes in the "pharmacy" and did purchase a product that we were told was "saffron". Ford took us to a restaurant where we had a cup of coffee and then we were led back outside the city wall to the waiting van & then to the ship. All in all this took 4 hours. When we arrived back at the ship, we told Ford that we had booked a 6 hour tour and asked for a price break because of this difference. He told us he couldn't change the price and that he had "showed us everything there was to see" in Tangier. Needless to say, we felt taken advantage of and were left with a very negative impression of the entire experience. When we left Ford, he was negotiating a price with another group of cruise passengers. I sure hope they had a different experience than we did!!

PS I wrote directly to the tour operator before posting this review and gave them ample time to respond to me and explain this experience. Didn't hear a word, no acknowledgement whatsoever.

There are other tour operators in Tangier -- my best advice -- definitely avoid this one!

We spent two days touring Tangier, Assilah, and Chaouen. Our ferry tickets were reserved by Tangier Tours. Confirmation number in hand, we had no problem making the crossing from Tarifa. Parking at the pier cost about $20 per day, but there's free street parking if you want it. When we arrived in Tangier we were immediately met by Hamid, our guide, led to our van, driven by Ahmed, and taken on a tour of Tangier & Assilah. At day's end, we were delivered to our hotel "Dar Rif", in the Medina. In the morning, Hamid came to get us. We spent the day in Chaouen. When returning to the ferry, Hamid stayed with us until we boarded. We couldn't have had a better experience. Ahmed was an excellent driver and I cannot find the words to describe Hamid's professionalism and pleasant demeanor. He deftly answered all our questions and educated us in the Moroccan culture, and he spoke English fluently. He's a great guy and I am grateful to have met him. I hope he comes to the U.S. as a tourist so I can treat him and his family as well as he treated us. Thank you Hamid!

I read all the reviews so our expectations were high!
Was never quite sure it would all work, but it did. The trip from Elvira, Marbella down to Tarifa parked in the port, no problem at all, out tickets were there waiting for us. Great ferry crossing. At Tangier's port we saw our names being held by Ford our tour guide. He was very smart, friendly and very informative. Answered all our questions. Took us to see all the previously mentioned sights by air conditioned van. The camel ride was brilliant, the snake charmer amazing. We asked not to taken to the rug sale as we were not interested. Our lunch in a traditional morocan reasturant was devine and not expensive. Ford did take us to the spice store, which was hilarious and fun, we had a short demonstration by someone who was a Jerry Lewis (mad professor) double. We did buy into the morccoan oils, rose oil, musk soap perfume, and orange oil. All lovely. But you must haggle. We also got taken to a shop in the Medina which was an Alden's cave of treasures, and again you must barter. Great experience. Thank you Tangier's tours for handling it all. Thank you Ford for your thoughtful manner and knowledge.
