This 4 story house in the historic medina, close to the kasbah in a friendly neighborhood has a fantastic roof terrace with a
panoramic view of Tangier from the port to the beach. The house is organized vertically as are many of the houses in the area. The rooms are adequate and comfortable----room for 6 people--- with 2 bathrooms. The kitchen is functional and all the appliances work. The sitting area is small but ok.
The administration is very responsive to requests and seems committed to making this apartment work for guests.
The main challange of this apartment is the stairs, which are quite high by American standards, so I would not recommend this place for people with knee, hip or cardiac issues.
The two best things about this apartment are its' location in the medina and its' roof terrace. We lived there for the month of February 2014 and spent lots of time on the terrace.
I would highly recommend the Artist's Residence.

I booked this accommodation last minute when the property I had originally booked withdrew 2-days before I was due to arrive. That said the owner of this property, Deborah, was most efficient in her dealings and very reasonable with the rates she charged for this 3 bedroom property. Similarly, her contact in Tangier, the ever smiling Abdellah, was extremely helpful and courteous on arrival and our departure for the handover of keys and was only a call away if we needed him. In 2013 I have visited Tangier 3 times. Each time I have stayed at a different place. This time we stayed in what can be truly described as an authentic and rustic Moroccan home. If you want the real deal with a hint of quirkiness and eccentricity then this is a fun place to set base and explore the Medina and truly appreciate how the locals live. A great place for families too. Albeit tucked away down a side street, the locals are very helpful so much so that one evening when I had taken a wrong turn and asked for directions the young lad who guided me back, Mohammad, turned out to be our neighbour who lived directly opposite. My only genuine feedback would be to ask that an extra couch be offered in the living room, even though a tad tight for space with a dining table and chairs, to provide seating space when unwinding in the evening as one 3-seater was not enough for 4 of us. Thank you Deborah. Wishing you well!!

I stayed in this house in early 2013. I had a wonderful time and recommend it to others with no hesitation.
The location is excellent – right in the middle of the Kasbah which is the old part of Tangiers. We could walk to all the places of interest; and some places such as the Museum of the Kasbah are on the doorstep. There is also a lovely walk along the clifftops to Cafe Hafa – a very famous tourist destination, where you can have an ice-cream and a cup of tea overlooking the ocean and sitting on tables carved into the clifftop. You can also walk to the port and the house is minutes away from the celebrated Medina market.
The jewellery quarter is amazing, if you are looking for unusual silver jewellery this is the place to find it.
The house itself is big with four storeys and plenty of room. The roof terrace is one of the best features with a great view overlooking the bay and port area.
Everything in the house worked fine; the kitchen is furnished with basic mod cons (washing machine, microwave, small hob, wonderful Moroccan bowls and plates). The beds were comfortable and the whole house was very clean and colourful.
I look forward to returning again in the future!

We, that is myself and three teenagers, stayed in the house for two weeks. We had a brilliant holiday - the situation of the house in the Kasbah meant we really felt part of things and more like travellers than tourists! Listening to the call to prayer on the balcony in the evening was amazing, as was the view. The house is roomy and comfortable and the decor is lovely, with a real Morocco feel. The washing machine made my life a lot easier and was very much appreciated. The water was lovely and hot and having two toilets meant my baths remained uninterrupted by the kids. Abdellah was really helpful but not pushy, and it was good to know he was a phone call away if anything went amiss. I have already recommended this property to several people as I think it is a perfect base to explore this wonderful city. I cannot recommend it highly enough, such good value too. Thank you!!

The property was everything the photos portrayed and more. When we arrived, we were haggled by taxi drivers when we got off our bus, but Deborah had someone waiting when we arrived. He tracked us down in the Medina near the Hotel Continental and recognized us, calling to us by name, which was a huge relief at the time. He then took us to the house, which was very clean and equipped with everything that we needed for our stay.
I wish we could have stayed longer. The house had a lovely terrace overlooking Tangiers. There was plenty of space for our four person family (and then some). The house is four stories, very unique, and very Moroccan. Everything was in working order for our stay, which was a nice change up against some of our other experiences with other vacation rentals in other countries.
We took a ferry from Algeciras to Tangier Med because the wind had shut down ferries from Tarifa, Spain directly to Tangier. The bus ride from Tangier Med to Tangier was 40 minutes and then the taxi ride to the Hotel Continental only took a few minutes. The walk from the Hotel Continental to the house is short and manageable with a little guidance.
We have had our fair share of bad experiences, but this one was very good. Deborah worked with us on the vacation rental to make the situation worked for us even despite quirky and remarkably busy schedule.

There is much to commend this property - it is exceptional value. Its location in the medina is excellent, with many shops and cafes nearby to buy food and provisions. You feel very much part of the kasbah and are treated as a local if you are respectful and willing to converse. Compared with other places I have stayed in Morocco, there was very little hassle from locals and lots of genuine offers - only really experienced negative attention on arrival from the Port, and in the hotel district.
Communication from the owner prior to arrival was excellent, and on arrival at the Hotel Continental and texting Abdellah, I was called back within 10 minutes. He came with the keys 20 minutes later and escorted us to the house. He quickly found more toilet roll and a light bulb (several more were missing, we later discovered) and made sure we had what we needed, and offered himself in case we had further problems. We didn't need to contact him again, but felt confident that we could and that he would manage things. It would have been nice to have an extra key; we would have been severely limited by one key if we had been a larger group. It would have been helpful to have a map of the town and medina, but we were able to find one in the new town.
It was great to have the run of the house, which is largely as described. It is clean, very functional, and modestly but cleanly furnished. It would benefit greatly from a cooker - there is currently only a two ring hob and no oven - a wider selection of kitchen implements, and some sofas or easy chairs for relaxing. Bedrooms were well appointed and we slept well. Bathrooms were clean but fittings cracked. Roof terrace is gorgeous. The tall, narrow building (and street), coupled with an open grille over the front door, meant that noise from the street was sometimes disturbing and echoed up to the bedrooms, and the neighbours were doing some very loud work on their property, but kept this to daytimes.
We enjoyed sampling the local street food, which was excellent value and very good quality, and eating in the beach cafes when we fancied something a bit more international. Top tip is to buy a drink and the Hotel Continental and use their wifi for free.
Overall we had a great time, and with a few additions and upgradings, the house will be even better. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and look forward to staying again.
