We got the "35 minute" (more like 70 minute) ferry from Tarifa to Tangiers, and the trip included a drive around the city by bus and lunch. Unsurprisingly, it also included a lot of "lookie, lookie" in our guide's friends' shops at a bizarre range of souvenirs and spices.
A return ferry journey with no guide would have cost €53, so we decided to go with the tour including lunch for €59. It was interesting to see the city by minibus, as we got to see both the new and old parts, but we could have walked in about 5 mins from the ferry terminal to the medina (old town) and not spent so long waiting on the other members of our tour group to buy various bits of "ethnic tat".
Was it worth doing the tour? I'm not sure it was, but it was worth seing Tangiers.
