This is a MUST-eat place in Tangier. We ate here as our last meal of our Morocco vacation and it was definitely the best. The menu changes daily, but hilights of our meal included a shrimp and spinach spiced stew, 3 different grilled and seasoned fish, and a wonderful homemade fruit juice blend. Even the bread and olives were the best we had in Morocco.

But perhaps the most unforgettable part of this restaurant is their extremely friendly owner, who will come by your table and instruct you how to eat the food correctly, and thank you personally on your exit, and even offer a complimentary culinary souvenir.

Get here as soon as it opens in the evening, as the restaurant was full within 10 minutes.

The place is quite expensive for Morocco but it is worth visiting at least once.

I have one recommendation: Please don't put so much spice on the fish; one doesn't feel the fish's proper taste at the end.

Also you eat a lot there and the mixture of things is for the least to say unusual for an European stomach so you could feel a little too full. There you cannot choose what you eat (so to eat less) but have to take the whole set menu.

Otherwise, as I said, the place is curious and you won't regret going there.

Don't miss out on a dinner (or lunch if you can really eat this much at lunchtime!) at this fantastic little eaterie!
The moment you walk in you know there's something different about this place, but don't worry - different is certainly good in this case!
The fixed menu offers seafood lovers a taste of heaven on Earth, and at 200dh per person (the price was increased for 2012 so should remain at this level for a few years to come) it needs to be good! But the prevalence of local customers tells you that this is a place that does the right thing every time which is why it's been running for over 30 years already.
Settle down at your table and prepare for your meal with glass of the restaurant's famous mixed fruit juice, supposedly 15 different fruits including dates and sultanas and large plates of locally marinated olives and freshly roasted nuts. Your first course proper is a delicious seafood soup rapidly followed by a faultless seafood tagine so fresh you can still taste the sea salt in every mouthful! The main event is a magnificent whole fresh fish (we were lucky enough to get a large turbot!) with a delicious swordfish kebab on the side. And, as if this wasn't enough, you will finish with a dessert of local fruit and a Moroccan delicacy of crushed barley and local honey. Fabulous fare and worth every penny of the 200dh per head.
As if all that weren't enough, the founder of the restaurant, a self-nominated Popeye lookalike, will entertain you with occasional visits to your table. We left armed with various trinkets, an experience of old-style Tangerine hospitality and a general agreement that this was the highlight of our entire trip.
Don't hesitate to spend an evening in the company of knowledgeable locals and intrepid tourists at this outstanding local eaterie!

We visited this restaurant on the last night of our stay in Tangiers and were served several delicious fish dishes. It's a fixed menu but we wouldn't have wanted it any other way as it was all so good- delicious fresh fish, multiple types of fresh bread, olives, and wonderful spice combinations. The fruit juice is made by the owner, who looks like Popeye and greets you like an old friend, out of 15 fruits in a huge vat in the back room. The whole experience was made even more special when Popeye presented us with "souvenirs" at the end and I left clad in a green jelaba with an argan oil concoction he makes himself, which he says will strengthen my skin. We originally though 200 DH pp was a lot as Morocco is normally so cheap, but then we left a large tip at the end because we were so impressed!

You get a lot of tasty food for a fixed price and great introduction to Moroccan cuisine. Even as a solo diner, I got the full treatment - the toasted nuts, olives, full assortment of bread, harissa, and my own whole grilled fish! At the end, I got a petit souvenir which just made the whole experience so sweet.

It's 200DH for the meal (and I didn't see choices on anything so you have to like seafood and and the only drink is a mixed fruit drink that's pretty tasty but sweet) and it was much more than I could eat. I wish I had kept more room for ghe dessert. They keep topping up the fruit juice drink.

A great experience overall.
