“disgrace to 5 star establishments”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2011

i could not believe this hotel was 5 stars. One of the personnel stole things from my suitcase and i was furious because nobody could speak English. the worst experience of my life. i could not sleep because of the noise coming from the bar and the smell of the dirty lake. this was a nightmare!!! it was in the middle of nowhere no beaches and far from the city. After that horrible experience i went to hotel minzah and had a better experience.

The Andalucia Golf Tanger Hotel is only a year old. The building is lovely, with a true Moroccan feel, but is away from the noise and congestion of the old city. Our room has a large, lovely balcony that overlooked the hills of the wealthy area of Tangier. It was a quick taxi ride to the Medina or Grand Socco or the port. (The old port in the city, not the new port, which is almost an hour out of town.) The room was very large, with a large tile-floored bathroom with marble sink, separate little room with toilet and bidet, and separately enclosed bathtub/shower. The bed was huge--two singles together, and extremely comfortable. Pillows very many and quite plush and comfortable. The desk staff was very helpful. We were met by a fellow in traditional Moroccan garb, who gave us damp washcloths and hot tea. The breakfast buffet was amazing--more food than any I can recall--at a reasonable price. The pool was not open as it was only early March, but looked like it would be very nice in the summer. There were two bars and two restaurants. The staff was extremely courteous. The only thing the room could have used was a lit clock with alarm, and the business center needs a couple more computer stations. We liked the location, and considering the high-end neighborhood and tree-shaded golf course just a block away, it is very walkable if you want to just get out. A convenience store is only less than a half-mile walk. While 5 stars might mean different things in Paris, London or New York, I feel the Andalucia Golf Tanger truly merits its 5-star rating in Tangier. We were treated very well there. Tangier is a great city, exotic, unique, and extremely interesting, and just a 35-minute fast ferry ride from Spain.

Splendid brand new property on the road from Tangiers to Cap Splinter. Almost no complaints about hotel itself, it's superb in all the senses though rate was not so expensive assessing quality vs. paid money.
Especially enjoyed abundant breakfasts with lots of fresh vegatables and yummiest pasdtries we ever ate!
There are couple of small flaws however:
- no internet in this up-market internationally oriented hotel;
- hard to find as the address shown as Tangiers is not in this city in reality, so nobody can find it in GPS since in Tangiers there is no street called Route du Cap Splinter, if only printing out & using geographical coordinates in degrees & minutes from booking site.
And swimming pool was only in state of repair in March 2011 while it's a best season for Morocco.

This hotel is a little out of the downtown of Tangers which made it perfect for us. It was very quiet at night (as in good for sleeping). The bars and restaurants in the hotel were very good and the employees were very friendly and made the entire experience a lot of fun. We especially enjoyed chatting with Chahin, Lemal and Younes who gave us great advice on what sites to make sure we saw during the day.
About 100 yards from the hotel is the Royal Tangers Golf Club. The hotel itself doesn't make any arrangements for golf, but we just walked to the front door and got out for 9. No buggies and caddies are required, but it is a beautiful and seemingly little used course (although January is quite off-peak).

The location is fine because taxis are cheap - just make sure you get a metered one and don't get ripped off. The drivers were keen to point out how far away the hotel is from the city centre - it's actually a less than ten minute drive from the train station and should only cost maximum 2 euro in a 'petit taxi'. On leaving the hotel, if you want to save money, don't get reception to order you one, just walk out of the hotel and hail one on the road.

The room was spacious and clean. The view from the balcony was slightly impaired by construction work, but it wasn't noisy.

The staff at breakfast practically ignored us on the first day and were annoyingly overbearing on the second. Hot food had started to run out by about 9.30 and it wasn't quickly replenished.

I'd recommend this hotel if, as we did, you get a cheap internet deal. I certainly wouldn't have been happy if I'd paid full price.

We went to Tangier for a wedding, had booking problems with our initial hotel and ended up here. We were really happy with the result. This was much nicer than where we booked initially.

After staying in several kasbahs, dars, and riads in our tour of Morocco (which were all very nice), we were ready for our stay here, which was like staying in a modern hotel back in the States. I'd compare it to a Westin. It was great to spread out in our huge, brand new, king bed and watch some world cup on the flat screen.

As for service, etc., similar to the other western style hotel we stayed in during our trip, there were small things here and there that felt slightly off - it's always a culture clash in Morocco - but on the whole this place was very nice, and again, brand new.

Location-wise, it is about a 10 minute ride to downtown, but depending on one's opinion of Tangier, that can be a good thing. And they do only book you grand taxis in the lobby, and it takes 15 minutes for one to show up, so I would also recommend just walking out to the nearby street and hailing a petite taxi, as that would probably save you time and money. Oh - and if you are heading to the port, or to anywhere, I recommend you negotiate the rate for the taxi in advance. Certain taxi drivers in Tangiers will try to charge you outrageous amounts if you're not careful. The hotel would do well to get this part of their service straightened out in the future.

why? because -
1. the worst beds i haev tried to sleep on
2. the most useless concierge and help - couldn't organize a taxi (which you need as this place is miles from civilization) for us to an hour, and when we went out we got one in 5 mins. apparantly they wanted us to take a high priced hotel taxi. also the concierge didn't know anything. AND, no one knows English
3. location - it's no where
