So.....Heres the thing.....Janet and Andrew are the most perfect welcoming, friendly, HELPFUL and comforting hosts that we have ever had. Their personal touch was most comforting!!! Thank you Janet for your beautiful creative touches, nice breakfasts and good chats and Andrew for your orientation walk, humorous explanations of safe places to go and wide knowledge of whats up in Tangier. Thanks to you both for your kindness and effort.
We realized how special you are by noticing the love and respect your Moroccan community shows you.

My motley crew, six of us in three rooms, ranging in age from 19-84 were happily accommodated in every way. Janet and Andrew managed to address our needs with gracious good humor, very helpful tips and scrumptious food! The rooms are tiny, the house is very vertical, so those of us with bad knees, on crutches, or otherwise limited, did not get up the rooftop garden as much as we might have liked. But that is a highlight of this lovely house. I had some doubts about staying in a property that is owned and run by Americans, as some kind of immersion in the culture might have been more easy with property run by locals, but it was extremely helpful to have Janet and Andrew both in their different ways, showing us the local life they clearly enjoy and are very much a part of. We would surely stay there on a return trip...

Room Tip: The one room we did not get (our troupe occupied 3 of the 4) looked to be extremely romantic an eleg...

This small riad owned by American couple, Janet and Andrew, though homey and comfortable, felt authentically Moroccan......complete with spectacular sights (a 360〫view of Tangiers from the rooftop terrace), exotic sounds (call to prayer from mosque next door and the neighborhood communal water source outside the front door, and tantalizing smells (the cedar firewood being stored for the winter, Moroccan spices and Janet's fresh baked breakfast delights). The color coordinated decorating touches in each room added to the Moroccan ambience. Our hosts knew exactly what to suggest for our short time there. Their knowledgeable guide took us on a trek through the entire Medina and into parts of the new city stopping at historical sites and places of interest.....who hasn't heard the reputation of Cafe Baba!? They also arranged for their driver to take us on a driving tour to Cap Spartel, Hercules Grotto, and Chez Abdou, a lovely seaside restaurant where you pick out your own fish for them to grill. We couldn't have done all this so quickly and easily without their help. We highly recommend this Riad if you are looking for a truly Moroccan experience.

We had the most wonderful stay at DarJand with Janet and Andrew. The breakfast was always phenomenal, particularly the fig jam! Janet and Andrew went above and beyond the service that we would have expected. When we needed medical attention, they ensured that we got excellent care. They took us to a trusted doctor and assisted in translation. They ensured that we knew where to shop for what we were looking for and that we met some wonderful people.

Room Tip: We viewed all the rooms and they are all beautiful. They all have ensuite bathrooms which is very he...

We enjoyed our 2 day stay immensely. Janet and Andrew are genuinely attentive to the quality of their guests' Tangier experience. We felt welcomed and well taken care of (with a relaxed style that was not overbearing), thanks to top-notch personalized service. We appreciated the superb walking orientation through the medina, clean and well-decorated rooms, delicious breakfasts, and a stunning view of the medina from the terrace. What a great experience to stay with people who are invested in their community; we developed a little better understanding of the culture and local life here as a result of our stay. Thanks!

We had a short but very nice stay in this beautiful Dar. Janet and Andrew are the perfect hosts. They sent Farouq to pick us up at the airport, they find us a guide to walk around so we could see the most of Tanger in the short time we were staying there. They even teach us some arabic words that help us out even after in our trip trough Morocco. Walter made sure we were always secured, he went with us to stores and walk us to one of the best restaurants we went during our whole trip. The place where the Dar is located is perfect and the guest house is beautiful. The rooms are small but very comfortable and the roof terrace is spectacular. Our short stay there was the best introduction to morocco, Janet and Andrew explained to us many interesting things about the country...it was just perfect ! Ah.. and the breakfast was delicious!! .

We stayed at DarJAND earlier this month at the start of our travel adventure around Morocco....and are we ever glad we began here! DarJAND AND Andrew and Janet were the best welcome and introduction to Moroccan culture there could ever be. DarJAND is a charming Dar in the center of the Medina....how many people get to enjoy this immersion into the Moroccan culture first hand? Andrew picked us up at the airport (or has Faro, their driver do this) and brought us right to the front door. Along the way we were oriented to the basics of the area and made to feel comfortable and welcomed. Janet and Andrew have made DarJAND into a beautiful authentic place to rest and stay. The rooms are authentically designed and decorated...and so colorful. We stayed in Tuareg Zraq Terrace guest room, on the upper floor....and just below the lovely Terrace that looks out over the city and the Strait of Gibralter. We could see Spain in the distance as well as the tops of the homes that stretch out across the Medina. Breakfast was served rooftop each day under a pretty filmy canope. Scones, Biscuits, breads, dates, fruit, tea and an assortment of jams and spreads started our morning each day. Janet has a special touch with this bountiful meal, and Andrew helps with moving the trays up and down the stairs! Our room had it's own small terrace for reading and dreaming which was very pleasant. The other rooms we peeked into were equally as charming and colorful. Andrew took us on several walking tours to acclimate us to the area.....and he seems to know everyone, as the greetings were called out from many on the streets. Andrew and Janet shared the best places for 'local' meals, shopping and just seeing the sights. Tanger is an interesting town. We felt like locals in the cafe having our mint tea by the time we left. Andrew and Janet go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable, safe and happy. Did I mention the local oven for baking bread is nearby? The smells as the ovens start in the morning are mouth watering. The sounds of the call to prayer remind you of the local culture and made us glad we chose DarJAND. We highly encourage you to do the same.....we will be back!

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful. We enjoyed the top floor as it had a sitting area and view. All rooms...
