Dar JAND
Ranked #8 of 48 Tangier B&B and Inns

I was a bit suspect at seeing the #1 Rating that Dar Jand had received until we arrived in Morocco and were greeted by Andrew.at the docks. After a short walk to Dar Jand in the center of the Medina, we were intoduced to Janet and taken upstairs to our rooms and then on up to their deck for tea and the magnificent views of the city. Janet and Andrew were the perfect hosts and their B&B was located in the center of the Medina within easy walking distance to the markets and shops that make up this interesting piece of real estate in this part of the world. Our introduction to Tangier was anything but the typical Hollywood version, that I'm sure ,deters many visitors from coming here. Andrew had some wonderful tips to finding our way about the city. Subtle markings to insure that we understood where we were in relation to the B&B. Janet joined us for a typical lunch in a local cafe and then they turned us loose with a friend of theirs who showed us other parts of the city.......quite a hike but well worth the effort. That evening our Hosts served up our dinner options and we decided on a most unexpected place just around the corner. A wonderful cuisine with wine available, made our first nite in Morocco a memorable one. Next day it was out for some shopping under Andrew's guidance and then headed out of town to a beach resort for sunset cocktails and a lovely seafood dinner. It was so very comforting to be under the watchful eye of both Andrew and Janet which made our stay just that much more enjoyable. As we were due to leave the next morning, Andrew was up early and down to the docks to reconfirm our boat departure. As expected, our scheduled 35 minute boat ride (that actually takes 90 minutes) was running an hour late. We bid our farewells to Janet and Andrew and headed down to the docks for our return trip to Tarifa. It was indeed a wonderful 3 days made even more enjoyable by our gracious hosts Janet and Andrew who had shared their city with us. Thanks to the both of them and the outstanding B&B they call Dar Jand.

Dar Jand was a great place to stay in the medina. The rooms are lovely and so well decorated, The breakfast is cooked by Janet in the morning, served on the roof terrace where you can enjoy the view on the sea, Gibraltar, the port, and the whole city.
Andrew and Janet guided us through the medina when we arrived, making sure we can manage on our own for the rest of our stay. Not only they shared their knowledge of Tangier with their hosts, but they share their love for this amazing city.
A place I definetlly recomend, even though I'd rather keep it for myself as my little secret, to have a chance of getting a room next time I'll visit :)

We stayed at Dar Jand for three nights in May. The owners, Janet and Andrew were welcoming and kind, and made our stay in Tangier very memorable. Andrew took us for an informative orientation walk in the medina, which made getting around very easy. We felt very much at home during our stay at Dar Jand. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and there is an amazing view of the medina from the terrace. The breakfasts are excellent - with home made muffins and

Tangier is often passed over by tourists, but our three days with Janet and Andrew made us realize what an interesting city it is – particularly its unique history as an ‘international zone’ in the 40s and 50s. Janet and Andrew can set up a nice guided tour of the medina, though it is hardly necessary, as it is easy to explore on your own – especially with the benefit of their insight and years of experience.

Tangier being the first stop in Morocco, since we crossed over from Alzegiras on a ferry, it was nice to get insight into the local life from expatriates living there for several years.

We can’t recommend Dar Jand enough. It’s a wonderful place.

During our recent trip to Morocco, we had the great fortune to stay at Dar Jand. From the welcoming email, Andrew meeting us at the ferry, Janet serving tea and cookies on the their beautiful deck. Andrew guiding us through the medina, arranging for transportation to the train, having Aabdul give us a historical tour through Tangier are just a few of the things that made our time in Tangier memorable. Dar Jane is a lovely and comfortable home, but it is the kind, caring and warm hospitality that Janet and Andrew extend that make us want to return.
We wish we were able to spend more time in this exciting city with so much culture and history.

We only stayed one night in Tangiers. We came over with the ferry from tarifa and Andrew was already waiting for us to bring us up into the medina to Dar Jand. Janet and Andrew were very helpfull, they gave us many practical tips, they arranged a very nice guide who took us on a 4 -hours walk through Tangiers. After a rest in the small but very nice decorated room, Andrew led us to a wonderfull restaurant and taught us on his special way how to get back to our B&B .
The roofterras is spectaculair. The breakfast was very fresh and good. It all was well taken care off.
We certainly will go back again to this excellent B&B the next time we come in Tangiers ,

Room Tip: Use the earplugs if you stay in the Riff-room.

Andrew & Janet have made our stay in Tangiers very enjoyable they are truly amazing hosts. They are both very knowledgeable about Tangiers as well as the people and the culture. Their advice is spot on regarding the town, the surroundings and the best places to eat. On several occasions Andrew has spent time to walk us to the town in order to get acquainted with the narrow streets and showed us landmarks to help us return home safely with very useful information about the town and the people.
Dar Jand is very comfortable it has an amazing terrace with 360 degree view, overlooking Spain, Gibraltar and the fishing port of Tangiers. The breakfast at Dar Jand is a real feast in terms of quality and quantity. I highly recommend going with Andrew & Janet’s suggestions regarding the places to eat, taxi drivers and places to visit. Not only do they propose interesting places and things to do but also good value for money and the people they recommend are always trustworthy.
I am hoping to return to Tangiers and I know I will not consider another place other than Dar Jand and the genuine hospitality of Andrew and Janet.

Our first night in Morocco was in this wonderful B&B. Being two blonde females in our mid-20's we were a little worried about being in Morocco, but Andrew and Janet assured us that we would be fine. They had SO MUCH information about Tangier and truly love the city. We would have never learned so much about this culture if it weren't for them. Andrew walked around with my friend and I for a whole afternoon and took us for pea soup and to ride the camels. I would absolutely stay here again!!!!
