From the moment I opened the beautiful wooden front door, I knew this was a special place. Why stay in a hotel when this place exists in Tanger? It's fantastic. A really good value for what you are getting. The entire house has been fully and tastefully renovated, furnished with an understanding of and respect for the Moroccan culture. There are all of the modern conveniences, with modern design elements throughout the house, but with the character and charm of the original interior respectfully kept intact. Every room in the house felt comfortable, from the sparse but tasteful foyer up to the third-floor salon. My favorite place to hang out was the roof deck at dusk or dawn, with a view to the Strait of Gibraltar on one side and a vista of Tangier on the other (it's one of the tallest houses in the neighborhood). I also loved the neighborhood of Marshan in which the house is located, within walking distance of the Ancien Medina, a park that becomes very lively in the evening, and Cafe Hafa, a wonderful neighborhood cliffside cafe frequented by Moroccans. If you want to explore the city further out, taxis are easy to catch. The manager of the property was courteous, professional, and quick to respond. If you find yourself travelling to Tangier, be sure to check this place out.
