Ate there over 5 time between Dec 2013 and Jan 2014 and found the food ok while the service is inconsistent and the waiters' mood is very random.
We received great service at times while we were almost ignored at other times, although we always paid great tip.

Still worth visiting.

Thank Abosto

For the less adventurous tourist, this will do. No locals, only foreigners. I can't believe people honestly think this place has a lot of atmosphere. I don't think it has. But the service is quite attentive, and the waiters doubling as singers and instrument players add a touch of folk charm.

It was full by 8pm on a January Friday night, a sign the marketing is working. The tables are truly close to each other, so couples will suffer slightly in intimacy. Nobody smoked while we were there.

The assortment of brouillettes (mini samosas and rolls, filled with meat and fish) were decent. The assortment of salads which was ordered by the table next door looked huge and tasty.

The tagine of chicken with lemon peels and olives really tasted delicious (but when the table next door ordered it, they had already run out of it). So did the lamb tagine with fennel (a day special). The lamb was soft, tasty and the fennel blended in perfectly. By the end of it we were full.

At 500 Dirhams (including 2 beers), it really is not cheap by Moroccan standards. To paraphrase a famous beer's motto, let's say it's reassuringly expensive.

Excellent tagine and brochette, to die for briouattes (sp?) fried triangles of goodness, wonderful music and atmosphere and they serve wine. Much cheaper than Dinarjat and almost as good. It is located behind the Balima Hotel.

When in Rabat make sure to have dinner at this beautiful and tranquil restaurant in the center of town, close by the Balima Hotel. The ambiance, sublime, with the servers doubling as musicians. The menu consist of classical Moroccan dishes. The chicken tagine with pickled lemon peel, divine; the vegetarian cous cous, fluffy and delicious; and the fish tagine, scrumptious. The service being very good adds to the wonderful Moroccan gastronomic experience!

We were probably there a little early but we were starving as we had not had lunch so it was quiet. Contrary to the other reviews I thought the service was a little indifferent but it wasn't a deal breaker as we had come mainly for the food anyway. The taktouka was good and full of flavour to start which I followed with marinated chicken. The rice on the side was the best bit actually - really tasty. I wouldn't say the food blew me away though. The wine was a bit pricey but I did like the music in the background which was a nice touch and did add something unique. It's probably worth a visit but we are here in Rabat for a few months and I doubt we will go back a second time.
