L'Entrecôte in Rabat is still holding on to the reputation it had in the late 1980's. Some of the customers of the time is still holding on too. Rabat, the capital of Morocco, has never had outstanding and innovative restaurants. It is an administrative town, with tons of officials, foreign and domestic, where entertainement is usually done at home in sumptious residences.
L'Entrecôte has never pretended to be a high class, gourmet restaurant, but rather a stable and surefooted place to enjoy good food in a French atmosphere in a Moroccan bland capital. The restaurant is situated in Agdal (garden) in Rabat. Thirty years ago the place to go for good French cuisine was L'Entrecöte. Even today, you don't find any other gourmet restaurants in the neighborhood, just a a bunch of cafés and ice cream parlors. The only alternative would be restaurants in the hotels.
Let's face it, the place could need a little interior uplift, but the menu is still adequate, the wine list is assuring and the service is friendly and unpretentious. We had both meat and fish, and it met our expectations. The patron is attentive and pleasant. Still a good address in Rabat...
