“Very nice place with ideal location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012

We had stayed for an overnight at the Riad El Maati as part of our trip in Morocco.

Riad is a short taxi ride from the central Train station. If you take a taxi from the taxi stand next
To station, Ensure that you bargain well the price.

Taxi will drop you at the gate ‘ Bab Chellah’ and from there a staff member will come and pick you up.It is just 2 mins walk to the Riad. Riad is located in the Medina just 2 blocks from the main market in a quite Residential area.

Main attraction including the Kasbah, seaside, Medina Market the tower are all within walking distance As the hotel is in an ideal location.

It a very nice Riad with a mix of traditional and modern design which give a very nice result.
We have received a warm welcome by the owner and she showed us around the Riad. She also
Told us where to go for dinner and recommended a no of places and attraction to see.

Our room was on the 2nd floor and was big and very nice decorated with a big shower. Same as all other Riads. There is no Tv in the Rooms. No AC but a traditional fan which for us was ok.

Next to our rooms was the walkway where you could have your coffee or read a book and feel a nice cool breeze.

Breakfast was served in the terrace and was very nice with fresh orange juice, fruits, croissant etc and in general a rich breakfast for Riad.

Also the hotel has a common TV lounge where you can see TV and listen to music if you wish.

Riad El Maati was the only riad that has elevator which is a big plus!!! Especially for those travelling with small kids and elderly people.

For us this Riad is the best choice if you plan to visit Rabat which indeed worth to visit for atleast a day.

Also Rabat Medina is by far more relaxed and easy going compare to other big cities market.

The breakfast was really nice and the riad is very beautiful. The wi fi works in the rooms and the owners are great. This was the most beautiful riad we stayed at in Morocco.

Room Tip: The quadruple room downstairs is nice with a loft.

My husband and I enjoyed a perfectly delightful weekend at the Riad El Maati. The staff and owners were wonderful to us, spoling us with excellent food and the yummiest cookies and tea. Be sure to order the duck, pears and fig tangine, outstanding. The fact that our room was totally wheelchair accessible was amazing. This is the only riad we have ever visited that actually had an elevator to the roof-top terrance where we ate delicious meals and enjoyed the rooftops of the old city. We especially liked the fact that the riad is in the midst of the old median, but totally convenient and easy to get to. We will be back!!!!!

We stayed at the riad for one night on the way from Marrakech to Fes, and were seriously considering cancelling Fes after our experience at Riad El Maati.

Very nicely decorated, big rooms (we stayed at the ground floor room with 5m ceilings) and lots of style. The owners were very welcoming and attentive (organised a football broadcast for us, no problems with late checkout), we enjoyed a great dinner (although quite pricey at EUR65 with wine for two) and a nice chat. Location is convenient - in the middle of medina, but quiet and easy to find with or without a map. There's no parking in front though - leave your car before entrance to the medina (5-10 mins walk). One drawback is the proximity to Grand Mosque - the night prayer is quite loud as a result (but earplugs are provided).

We spent 2 nights at Riad El Maati. The building was charming - well designed, clean and modern. However, it was the way we were treated by the staff which made the riad so special. They fulfilled our every request and more. Fahrid bought sim cards for our phones and put money on the phone for us. When I found it difficult to get emails on their iPad he brought my a lap top. He posted our mail, booked us a restaurant, drove us to the train station when we left, gave us maps, umbrellas, served us tea and biscuits, and generally looked after us - all with a lovely smile and often a laugh. The kitchen staff were very approachable too. Unfortunately it rained during our stay so we were unable to eat on the terrace. However, the cosy fire in the dining room made our breakfasts and dinner memorable. For all the activity I've described, there was a very peaceful feeling here. This was our first riad stay and it set the tone for the rest of our Morrocan holiday. Well done!

Room Tip: We booked a suite - for more room for suitcases and gear.

When I was in Morocco last March, my colleague stayed here while I was at another Riad nearby. After a quick visit at El Maati and a brief meeting with the owner, I was no longer happy with our original choice :^)

So when the opportunity to come back for another week of work showed up, I immediately booked here. This was a great decision. I was not disappointed at all from my initial impression. Everything here is super clean, very modern and with one of the most comfortable beds I've experienced in Morocco. The owners are not only helpful, they're the friendliest people you can meet.

Riad El Maati is very well located, close to the famous Souika street (where all the medina shops are), but just enough off of it to be very calm. The terrace is also very nice, particularly when it's sunny. Spending time there is very relaxing.

Wi-Fi was spotty, depending on where I was in my room and some protocols I had difficulty with (Skype, sometimes with gmail on the iPhone as well). Not the fastest, either. So I had to find the best spots in the riad.

But here's another reason for you to stay here: the duck tajine (with pears and figs) I tasted at El Maati went straight into my top 10 meals of all time. I still think about it to this day and hope I will have the opportunity to come back just for this.

Thanks to the entire team, I had an amazing week!

Room Tip: Some have a jacuzzi bath, some have showers. Choose wisely!

This Riad is a haven in the middle of the Rabat medina. Close to the Bab Chellah, the gate nearest the main mosque, it's down a few tiny pathways, but not that difficult to find. Once in, the place is gorgeous and the owners very helpful and pleasant. They provide ear plugs that block you from hearing the 4AM chanting, even for the lightest of sleepers. I stayed a week, had two lovely dinners there, and took advantage of the hammam. Unlike other decors, this one is more sparsely furnished, more modern, reflecting the tastes of the French owners. Several rooms have mezzanine levels and an extra bed, which means it is particularly nice for a couple with one child. The people staying there were mostly French, and all very lovely as well. It's expensive for a long stay, but worth it for a short one. The wifi worked well.

Room Tip: I stayed in two rooms, the more expensive one had a jacuzzi bathtub, but was smaller. The other, on...
