Amine (sp) really made this stay a rating of five. We were going to rate it four but he was so helpful with the bags, restaurant recommendations and directions, got us an early breakfast at the requested time, etc. that he MADE the stay. The riad is very well decorated and our Souika suite on the ground level was big enough for two people easily ! Very close to the best shopping (souk) ....much less congested than Marrakesh or Fes. This is not a palace it's a house---but everything was clean and well done.

Room Tip: Souika suite is on the ground floor--- no stairs.

The kindness of Amine; you will have all the information and help that you need to enjoy the city.
The suite was comfortable and spacious.
The Riad has not transfer service to offer you, so it could be a little uncomfortable to get out at the train station and negotiate with the petit taxis drivers, but also an experience. Amine helped us with the luggage to reach the train station when we left, thank you very much again!!
A disadvantage is to not have availability of food or beverages to have dinner when you come back, so you need to eat outside.
Near of the Kasbah, down-town and the markets, between 20 and 30 minutes by foot.
Inside the Medinah, to live the other side of Rabat.
Thank you very much Amine for all your help and kindness.

Room Tip: Suite Bahia, spacious and comfortable.

This little gem in the midst of busy medina is not easy to find at first, although, to be fair it would have been much easier had we read the e-mail with the directions sent to us by the hotel beforehand. Upon arrival we were greeted by Amine, offered some mint tea and shown to our splendid room. Out of all the riads we have stayed at during our trip to Morocco, this one by far had the most genuine feel and the warmest welcome. The room (Baia) was spacious, well decorated and very comfortable. Parking was available not far from the riad at the entrance into medina. Amine offered to come and show us the parking and gave us plenty of tips for sightseeing and eating out. The breakfast was good, freshly squeezed orange juice was a plus. Overall a very pleasant stay.

We stayed at the Riad Marhaba for five nights, Amine greeted us and even came to the car park to negotiate with the attendant. Both he and the attendant took us and our luggage to the hotel. The hotel was beautiful, the room was spotless and cleaned everyday. We could not have had a better host in Amine. The Riad is in the Medina with all the quirks of the area, narrow streets and alleys. However the maps given to us and the help we got made getting about very easy. It is only five minutes walk from the bustling souk which seems to go on forever. we went there at different times of day and evening. We were not hassled by the stallholders and we felt perfectly safe. there are many wonderful places to see in Rabat and some within easy walking distance. We drove from The port at Tanger-Med in under 3 hours. We will go again.(escargot)

Room Tip: Only five rooms in the Riad all are excellent

LOCATION: This riad is located in the middle of a maze and is not close enough to any souks are that are simple to get to. You have to get lost first to get anywhere. The directions they give you to arrive and to go anywhere are horrendous and their map is of no help at all. It is no where near to any restaurants.

STAFF: I found only 1 of out of the three or four staff could speak English. I found him to be friendly at first, but then moody, distant, unfriendly and unhelpful after. I felt unwelcome to ask any basic questions like "Where is..." and "what time do you recommend I go to....". He promised to help me out to the medina gate upon leaving and he was no where to be found. I never received any apology or explanation, even when I emailed management about this concern. I was lost and walked nearly 20 minutes to get a taxi whereas it would have taken me all of 5 minutes if the staff kept their word, and I almost missed my train. When I asked for directions, they gave me the most complicated directions and on the worst map. I stayed nearby at Art Riad and they were much more accommodating and hospitable and had a way clearer map. The staff seems to disappear at night, so if you need anything, good luck!

BEDROOM: I stayed in the Bahia Suite. The price for the room was very good. And the room was extremely spacious. It had a huge bed, extremely high ceilings, clean bath, an alcove for lounging, and single bed/couch with a coffee table, a two seater table and a wardrobe. The towels are very small and basic. Room cleaning service is provided everyday. The kids outside in the alley were very loud at night, sometimes until 2am. Closing the window will guarantee near silence. The room was cold due to the a/c and it wouldn't turn off when I pressed the power button. Yes, the room smells, but its just how the medina smells. The beautiful bedroom is the only reason this riad gets a 3 out of 5, otherwise I'd rate this place a 2.

BATHROOM: The bathroom is nicely designed in concrete and tile. There is good hot water. It is clean. No signs of mold.

BREAKFAST: Breakfast is brought fresh for you. Most of it is the same every day with bread, jams, yogurt, fresh orange juice, mint tea, coffee etc. But don't ask any questions while they are preparing or serving it, or you'll get attitude.

WI-FI: Wi-Fi reception on my laptop was excellent from inside the room but not so great on the cell phone.

TV: No tv in the room, but there is a tv room downstairs on the main floor.

The riad: There are lots of stairs and the staff never showed me how to flip on the lights, so I almost fell down them a couple times. But the riad is very beautiful on the inside.

DINNER: No dinner is offered here.

Room Tip: Ask for a lower floor room if you find it difficult to climb steep narrow stairs
