The hotel is quite near one of the train stations of Meknes, so it is really convenient to get there from the train station. There are signs to make it easier for you to find the hotel which is also a great help, particularly if you arrive at night. The staff is helpful - they easily speak French or Spanish, and give you nice tips to visit some key places in Meknes. I was advised a guide for a tour of the city (which I accepted, something that I rarely do) and the tour was absolutely worthwhile. The breakfast staff was really friendly and always making sure that you could have more coffee or food if needed. The rooms are more than adequate for a low budget hotel, clean enough and quite superior to many budget hotels that can be found in Europe. At night, the hotel neighbors tend to be noisy which is a bit annoying but nothing that prevents one from sleep if tired. I recommend this hotel as a good place to stay in Meknes, if you do not mind staying in a budget hotel relatively far from the old city (you need to walk around 25 minutes to get there; not a big deal for me).

Quite nice hotel, very close to the train station, so if you arrive to Meknes by train you don't have to walk far with your rucksack. Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms with shower is all you need when travelling across Morocco. Breakfast is included in price but don't expect more than 3 slices of bread, butter and some jam. To get to the historical sites you have to walk 2-3 km.

Recommended overall.

I stayed here for seven nights in March 2011, as a sixty-five-year-old Briton travelling alone. I had a first floor room with private toilet, shower and washbasin room en-suite.

.271 dirhams for first night and 250 thereafter - cash only

.clean throughout, well-maintained, with good standard of decoration and furniture.

.friendly helpful staff.

.two minutes walk from Meknes Abdel Kader railway station, where most trains stop.

.in a main road in a safe-seeming area with cheap restaurants and all types of businesses nearby.

.salon marocain on ground floor and courtyards on roof and first floor.

.TV in dining room / salon area with English language news available on request.

.comfortable double bed with plenty of extra blankets and pillows.

.power points in bedroom

.cofee available at 10 dirhams, but no food.

.concierge always seated at reception.

Bad points:

.cold gloomy bedrooms designed to be cool in hot weather - radiator was inadequate for cold mornings and evenings in March.

.very poor breakfast - good coffee with top-ups, one crusty bedroll with a little butter and jam, one chocolate pastry. No alternatives, no orange juice, no croissants, no fruit.

. no wi-fi.

.single bed was narrow and uncomfortable.

.one wire coat hanger in wardrobe. one hard chair in room.

The hotel was only ok. The rooms themselves are nice and fairly large, although unless you get an inside (no windows) room, it can be fairly noisy at night. The hotel is located near the train station in Ville Nouveau, and similar to the Ville Nouveau's in Marrakesh and Fes, there are tons of restaurants and nightlife, but none of the charm of staying in the Medina.

While visiting Morocco, I would say that staying in Hotel Majestic is analogous to eating at McDonald's. While you know exactly what to expect, you may be missing an opportunity to experience much more.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Positives: the room was clean, and had an en suite bathroom with reliable hot water. Very basic, but pleasant. We took the advice in our guidebook and asked for a quiet room when checking in, and our room was very quiet, overlooking a back courtyard. The location was very convenient to the train station, if not that close to the sights, and check out was later (11) so we could see some thing in the morning and then go straight to the train station for our departure. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was not the cheapest budget option, but still very reasonably priced and we thought that we got a lot of value for our money by Moroccan standards.

Negatives: The bed was pretty lumpy and the sheets were cleaned with bleach (so they were very clean, which we appreciated, but smelled a bit). The heat was not turned on the first night. There were some times when the water was turned off altogether - they told us it was the city and not the hotel, but I'm not sure if it's the same for all parts of Meknes? The breakfast was not fantastic - the croissants were a bit old.

We stayed in Hotel Majestic for one night only, after staying in the Meknes medina for the majority of our stay. We chose the Majestic mostly because it is just around the corner from the 2nd train station, and we were taking a very long morning train the next day, and didn't relish the thought of trekking with our bags up from the Medina. The concierge allowed us to look at a room before we booked in, and we decided the rooms were fine. We were even given a choice between a room on the 1st floor with a shared bathroom or a room on the 3rd floor with its own bathroom for an extra 20dhm. We decided to take the bathroom, and it was probably worth it. The room we were in also had windows that faced in to the courtyard, instead of out to the main road, which meant it was perhaps a little quieter than other rooms. Another plus as we were there on a Friday night.
Our bed was really really REALLY lumpy. That said, we both slept like logs, so I guess in some weird way the bed adapted to our shapes! I think the sheets were probably all bleached, which made us both a bit itchy at first, but at least everything was clean.
The rooms don't have tvs, and there is no internet anywhere in the hotel, which I would have been ok with in a riad, but in a hotel where you are more or less confined to your room it got pretty dull pretty quickly.
The location of the hotel was good for our purpose, but probably not a good place to stay if you really wanted to experience Meknes. The Medina is a walkable distance away, but it's tiresome. We had trouble finding lunch in the area, as a lot of shops don't open until dinner, so we ended up walking back to the medina anyway.
The breakfast was pretty poor, and I've become accustomed to not expecting much. Breakfast was an extra 28dhm, and usually I'd think it was worth it as a convenience, but the Majestic's breakfast was one of the worst I've had so far. It was essentially the usual Western-Europe/Moroccan hotel breakfast of croissants, bread, jam and coffee or tea, but not even as good. Our "chocolate" croissants were devoid of chocolate, and tasted about a week old. We were each given a portion of supermarket-issue white french-stick, coffee was instant, and we were not provided with juice or water. If we had been there another night I would have skipped the breakfast for sure.
Staff were pleasant enough, and our room did the job, but nothing great to say really.
