“One of the most authentic medinas in Morocco”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

Meknes medina is still untouched by mass tourism and I think this is what makes it such an interesting place to stop for a few days. Most tour group just visit the main square and move on to something else. This means that apart from one or two streets, the medina can still give you that feeling of really being in a commercially active centre. Don't miss the metalwork section and the damscene decorators. Take a walk straight through the medina from Bab Mansour to Bab Berdain and enjoy the great view onto the Zerhoun mountains.

“Good intro to Medina layouts”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

As mentioned by other reviews, the smaller size of this medina makes it a good starter in which to get used to basic navigation around a Medina.

“Smaller than Fes or Marrakech, but more relaxed”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

The Meknes medina proved to be a really nich one (after having visited Marrakech and Fes). Much smaller than the two mentioned, but therefore also more overseeable, and the sales people are less pushy.

“Relaxed compared to other Moroccan Medinas”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

The shops are clean and varied there are also a lot more shops that had better quality merchandise compared to Fes and Marrakech. It was delightful for the shop owners not to hassle us as they did in the other cities, they are a lot more relaxed and polite this was a relief. It was so nice we are considering going again and making a few purchases. If you look carefully you will also find a couple of hidden museums. After visiting Fes and Marrakech I feel that Meknes is under-rated, the people are a lot more friendly and genuine it is definitely worth a visit.
