Bab Mansour ,its meaning is the gate of the victorious refers to the king MOULAY ISMAIL ,one of the greatest king of the alaouite dynasty , in that time was considered the biggest gate in africa, it was the main gate to the city ,and the gate used by sultan specially in and out of the city , meknes was his capital ,
the gate is made of lime sands , atlas cedar wood (door) and the marble pillars were imported from italy in exchange with moroccan sugar,
bab mansour is the symbol of meknes city which one of the greatest historical and imperial city in morocco , it is an extension of the longest wall of the city.
opposite the gate is LAHDIM PLACE , its simmilar to the one in marrakech (jamaa lafna) it was an execution place where they kill the betrayers of the country , it s now a place of snake charmer performer, storey teller and big arrange of affordable restaurants , and cafee.
order a pot of mint tea which meknes is known for ,and enjoy the majestic bab mansour view.

nice to have a drink on the plaza looking at bab (door ) Mansour,
near the bab there is a small museum with not much inside, but they have a ancient tora ! well preserved

Its a beautiful entrance but somehow it remains closed n dont know when actually they open...opp to it the is a famous el heddim squars which turns lively in the evening.

This is a beautiful gate. We didn't get to see it in all its colorful glory since the sun was not against it, but it is easy to see how impressive it is.
