I came with two friends from the sahara desert. We were very tired and we had booked a triple room for one night. When we got to the hotel they told us in the reception that the third bed would be taken up in a few minutes. Then they just left a mattress in the room, which didn't even fit in the room!! The staff didn't give us any solution...

Bathrooms: En suite and actually slightly nicer than your average Ibis. Western toilet. No tub, but the shower stall was roomy and there was some Moroccan influenced tile work. Hot water was plentiful and the pressure was good.
Climate control: air conditioning and heat
Breakfast: not included. Though one could coble together something from the yogurt, cheese, meat, fruit, bread, and vegetables on offer these highlights were accompanied by runny eggs, cold tea, undrinkable coffee, and watered down juice. Only worth the price if the convenience is important to you.
Other: pool, restaurant, and bar on the premises. The bar was smokey but, otherwise unobjectionable. The food in the restaurant was standard- not good but, not bad. In room wifi is included in the price. Strong signal.
Walking distance to the Medina, the Ville Nouvelle, and one of the train stations. Daily maid service. Ibis style rooms with comfy beds and tv. No English channels.

Typical Ibis hotel: small but comfortable room at a low price (500 MAD walk in rate). Only chain hotel (Accor) in Meknes.

Well located between the new city and the medina area. Walking distance to major attractions.

Wifi included. Small bathroom with shower only. Construction issue with faucet too far from sink.

Room Tip: Cheaper to book on expedia

If you have stayed at an Ibis before, then this hotel wil givemyou exactly what you expect. Roms were about $47 Us per night, the restaurant was decent (not great, but not bad) and a taxi ride from the train station cost 20 dihram. (Just give the taxi drive a 20 bill and act like you have done the trip before.)

I made a reservation of a single room in Ibis Meknes through ibis.com at 15 Nov 2013, it was succed a few minutes after I got email about my reservation number etc. However after about 10 minutes I got another email that mentioned due to a technical issue, my reservation was cancelled and no bank transaction has been carried out. I tried to make reservation again but failed because it said there was a technical issue. At 19 Nov I got another email from Ibis about thank you for staying in Ibis. I was shock as I didn't stayed there because my reservation was cancelled by them. I tried to contact them to get inform them that I didn't stay there due to above mentioned and wanted to get confirmation that there would not bank transaction occured. However it was not clear from their website which option that i have to choose, so I chose contact and techical problem and wrote email. But I did not get any response and I was even more shock when I saw my internet banking that transaction was made on that day. This really disappointed.

This was the only 'chain hotel' of our nine-day Moroccan holiday, where we stayed in private and family riads, and Ksars. This hotel Very typically cateres for the French, despite the 'defense de fumer' during 'le petit dejuner', with few toiletries and a VERY continental breakfast!

We met up with a bunch of Roses de Sable off-roaders and were on-way to the OiLybia Rallye du Maroc so it set us up for the forthcoming 500km drive over the Atlas to the Sahel.

We asked for a non-smoking double room and got a room with an ashtray outside, and ashray insde and two single beds. Ibis claim to have a '15 minute guarantee' whereby they promise to fix any problems within 15 minutes or you get a freebie...!! I asked the manager if the room was definitey a non-smoking room because I could smell smoke whilst the air-con was on. He said 'Yes' and appeared to check his pc but then looked at me as if to say 'qu'est-ce que tu veux que je fasse?' (what do want me to do about it?). We walked out to the dirty pool, sat outside for 30 mins (2 guarantee's worth!!) and went back inside to prepare for the next day.

Would not use the hotel again, and probably not the chain either! but might choose the araea as it was less manic to get in and out of than Casablanca, Rabat, Fes or Marrakech, but still close to the Medina!

Beware, there are guys hanging around the carpark acting as 'Custodians' Read the advert - this hotel is supposed to have free covered parking. It wasn't covered but we challenged the attendant who gave up after I suggested we walk back to reception. Not what I needed ahead of a 8 hour drive!! grrrrr!!

If in Meknes, you must visit Volubilis, a Roman archaeological site about 35km NNE of Meknes up the N13 near Moulay Idris - spectacular mosaics and a unique site in all of Morocco!
Didnt see fitness centre so valued the dirty pool instead!!

Room Tip: Best of luck with a non-smoking room. Check the aircon - that;ll give it away!!

We stayed for 2 nights in November - having travelled for business. The hotel is comfortable and meets the basic needs. Clean and well maintained. The beds are very comfy with lovely fluffy pillows - a welcome after 14 hours travel. The breakfast was average, boiled eggs, scrambled, pastries, cereal, cheese and bread. Meknes is not a tourist area therefore you get to see the real morocco, the town is very busy and the ibis is between the old and the new town.

The old town is very traditional, lots of men sat drinking coffee in cafe's, woman do not frequent theses as it is not Culturally accepted. Whilst there are lots of men - it was by no way intimidating for a western woman. We could not find anywhere we would wish to eat in the town, therefore ate in the ibis which was very nice. Again this is not a tourist area - so limited shopping.

The new town is more vibrant - again lots of men meeting in cafe's, however there are a couple of bars where it is acceptable for woman to go and drink. Being a Muslim country alcohol is not widely available and is very expensive ( around £6 glass wine and £5 small bottle beer). Le pub is recommended - don't let the darkness put you off it is lovely inside and blacked out due to serving alcohol (as to not offend).

English is not widely spoken although the locals try, French is widely spoken as the third official language. The people of Morocco are extremely friendly, polite and helpful. They were a little curious of a blonde woman with an English accent!

Roads can be scary both for driving and walking - doesn't appear to be any system - free for all. Public transport is interesting - taxi's are public so expect to share! Travel first class on train (cheap and comfy) you are guaranteed a seat

Taxi from the airport is grande taxi - to rabet train station they charged 200d (v. Expensive) - negotiate!
Petit taxi - are local to area ( blue in meknes) (v. Cheap)

Room Tip: All rooms are the same - request smoking or non smoking
