Bab Mansour
Ranked #15 of 19 Hotels in Meknes
Reviewed March 31, 2012

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as travelling to and from Meknes by train and station only few minutes walk away. Actually consider it to be much better option to staying in riads of medina. Generally throughout hotel there is nothing that much to complain about and it is family owned and run. The cleanliness was average, but maintenance like most Moroccan hotels was not a priority. Had reasonable size reception, with lounge and bar. Staff were efficient and hotel well managed. Was staying single standard but given double room which was comfortable but basic.. Reasonable bathroom with good towels, soap and toilet tissue, but yes the tile grouting was best overlooked. Regular supply of hot water, but no sink plug again. Lift in hotel was effective. Stayed HB as rates so reasonable. Dining room fine and breakfast ok, but fairly basic. Limited choice for dinner and not marvellous but couldn't complain for price. Not many guests staying early March, but appeared to be mix of Moroccan people travelling for their company and visitors seeking more budget accommodation.
In summary I would suggest this is not a bad hotel to stay in at their reasonable rates, and there are few hotels in Meknes at the higher end. However, you will be most aware at Bab Mansour that not 4* standards.

The price was good. Maintenance was poor. Grout in the shower was rotted out but they tried to repair it. Rooms were very plain. No internet service – we had to sit by the window in the lobby to catch a signal from a nearby café. The allow smoking in the hotel. The single drinking glass in the bathroom had old water stains. The hallways were dark at night and you had to turn on the lights when you got off the creaky elevator.

A single person on business would find this a convenient and well-priced hotel If you take a spouse or family go to the Hotel Menzeh Dalia which is much nicer and caters to tourists.

Location was very good. Room was good, although not spectacular. Taxi travel was extremely reasonable. Walking was a possibility, although not much used.

Very nice restaurant: Crevettes Pil Pil in particular stand out. If you can, get 'em!
