Difficult to find, overpriced food. One night we ordered dinner for 3 and then told Aziz we were expecting friends to visit and asked for another 2 meals to be added, what we got was our initial order for 3 in the price of 5 with some extra starters. Furthermore Aziz didn't hesitate to ask me for cigarettes whenever he saw me. The cherry on top of the cake was on our last night Aziz asked us to pay for the accommodation, and we didn't have enough cash at that moment and he didn't accept cards, he couldn't wait for next morning, and forced us to take a taxi to the nearest bank to withdraw cash. As it was difficult for taxis to find the hotel, Aziz ordered a taxi for us for the value of 100 Dirahms (Overpriced by at least 3x) the most tragic event of the whole story was that we saw the taxi driver giving Aziz 80Dirahams in hand.
The only positive action of the Riad was the recommendation of Mustafa as a guide. He was very helpful and had great knowledge of the towns history except from the berber's rugs. Overall a worthily 600Dirahms for a one day guide.

A beautiful oasis in the madness of Marrakech, Aziz and Samira, could not have been more charming, helpful, informative, friendly and genuinely concerned to make our stay comfortable. He deserves all praise. All the staff were discreet but pleasant. A small riad, maybe 5 or 6 rooms, beautifully decorated, calm and pristine. Good price for the value! Excellent indoor and very clean rooms. Very traditional and this is what we were looking for. it was located deep in Marrakech,s medina in an authentic part. This was never a problem and all part of the experience for us.
I recommend.Would return happily.

The place is impossible to find. You are forced to negiotiate with taxi drivers constantly or pay locals to give you wrong directions. The food and drink is well overpriced for the area. Although it is nice enough inside, it is NOT worth the hassle of getting to. Stay somewhere much closer to the souks or even in the new town if you want to feel calm. The lack of English was difficult. I have travelled quite a lot, I go away about four times a year. This was the only holiday I have ever been on that I just couldn't wait to get home from.

We were greeted very warmly on arrival with mint tea and shown to our room, all the staff were very heplful and accomodating. The breakfast was typically moroccean and set up up nicely for our sightseeing. The Riad is a little out of the way and we constantly got lost as all streets look the same so it always took us more than 20 minutes to get back and forth, but we were so pleased to get back to the lovely accomodation, our room was spacious and had a good shower and the roof terrace was a welcome retreat to relax and read.

I must first start off by saying that I have never written a review for anything before, but felt compelled to let people know how fantastic this Riad is after a wonderful 7 nights stay there. We arrived much later than planned, and were warmly greeted by Aziz (who is a true asset to the Riad) and we were given mint tea and pastries and showed our room.
The breakfast was great every morrning, as much or as little as you fancied. We stayed in the Vanille room- I chose it when booking after reading the positive reviews on here and we werent disappointed. Tucked away at the top of the Riad, we had the peace and quiet we were looking for after a long day in the souks and medina.
People are correct when they say it is a little far away from the centre, but that surely is part of the excitement of travelling to Marrakech, and once you establish a route, it is really simple and a really enjoyable walk (I got some of my best bargains walking to the Riad because they didnt have to compete with the other souk markets!)
We also stayed in a 5* hotel during our visit to Marrakech but this was by far the favourite, mainly due to Aziz who could not have been more help.

A little note to the people who have mentioned that the staff speak no English, I think you will find that the manager speaks fluent English and is always around to make sure you are enjoying your stay and if she can do anything to help you. I also think that part of the joy of visiting another country is learning the language and bumbling our way through, I certainly picked up several Arabic words!

I could not recomend this Riad anymore and found such a great bargain for it- the same price as several hostels, so shop around and you can get a fantastic price.

Room Tip: If you are after peace and quiet than the Vanille Room is perfect.

After reading other reviews I expected more really.

On the bright side, the riad is indeed an oasis of peace and the people who works there are very nice.

The cons are that nobody speaks english (which is fine for the basics but does not make things easy) and that even though the riad is about 20 mins walking from Djemaa El Fna square, it is hard not get lost and the surroundings are not nice at all.

We stayed in room Cumin. Generally speaking the room is nice but it has no windows and since the door is right next to the common room, smells from the kitchen (every morning) and from people smoking goes into the room.

We stayed in two Riads in Marrakech (3 nights each). Both were great, although this Riad (El Faris) had better rooms, and the decor was superb. There is a lovely roof terrace to enjoy the evenings before heading out to town. The breakfasts were tasty and we enjoyed the evening meal which we had on our first evening.

One tip - take euros to pay the bill otherwise you will get stung with a very poor exchange rate if you pay in Dirhams.

We did find getting to and from the Riad a little daunting - it felt a little like it was in the rougher end of town - there were quite a few youths hanging about in the alleys and they were sometimes a little intimidating (more so than the normal hassle that one must expect and learn to enjoy in such a great setting). We ended up taking taxis as much as possible to avoid this, which was a bit of a shame.

Room Tip: From what we could tell, they all seemed good
