We appreciated the service long before we even arrived in Marrakech...emails were answered promptly and useful information provided. The pick up at the airport made for a smooth transition and staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was pleasant and the place was peaceful--a welcome respite from days filled with heat, noise and walking!

Free wi-fi was a bit shaky--when it worked, it did so only downstairs in the courtyard.

My 80 year old mother and I stayed here for 5 nights at the end of May and were delighted by the whole experience. From the welcoming mint tea and sweetmeats on arrival to the car to the airport on departure all was near perfect. The building is beautiful and very well maintained. Our room (Suite Yassin) was spacious and well appointed. The communal areas, inside and out are inviting, but it's best asset is the staff. Each one was always cheerful, helpful and well informed, nothing was too much trouble. I can't praise them enough. Breakfasts were wonderful and the evening meal in was one of the best we had in Morocco.
It's located within the medina, half way between the main square and the new town. It's probably only 10 minutes walk to the souks and square (more to museums and palaces), but there is so much of interest to distract the visitor that it can take much longer. Taxis are affordable and easy to pick-up. Wandering around the immediate area was a very different, no less enjoyable, experience to the madness of the souks. Apart from the usual precautions when being in a big city, at no time did my person or pocket feel in danger, day or night.
Day trips can be arranged out of town with a good car and an enthusiastic and entertaining English-speaking driver. I would recommend a trip to the Cascades d'Ouzoud, very impressive waterfalls. It's not necessary to have an additional guide once there, but ours was exceptional, taking us the long way around, bypassing the souvenir stalls via interesting old homes, olive groves and fossilized tree remains. He was particularly helpful to my mother, descending the steep path on the less used side of the falls and was a font of information about life in Morocco. Another enjoyable trip took in the weekly market at Asni then on to Imlil travelling up a particularly fertile and attractive valley.

We had a lovely time at the Riad- it is like an oasis of calm in a busy city! The owners were very friendly and helpful posting a postcard for us, finding lost items and bringing us drinks (we were never charged for any of these things and a tip was never demanded at any point unlike most place in the city!).
It is within walking distance of the souks and main square. We recommend asking them to arrange your airport transfer and meal on the first day as these were both great and eased the pressure of sorting it out ourselves.

We stayed in Riad Mur Akush in the second part of our honeymoon in Marrakech. Whilst not as plush as our first riad, we found the staff at Riad Mur Akush extremely friendly. We only had two days left to spend and the riad was very cosy and comfortable. We only just arrived and casually mentioned that we were looking for a quad bike excursion, that the manager, Mohammed, managed to arrange one for us with pick up at the riad for the morning after! We also arranged an in-house cooking lesson with Zohra, the chef, a very friendly lady who speaks French. Her cuisine is delicious and she and the rest of the staff made us feel really at home. We stayed in room Hammam, a large and very comfortable room. It is just short of a 10-min walk to the main square and also very close to the Nouvelle Ville. Overall a very pleasant and memorable stay and really friendly staff!

If I could give you one good tip for visiting Marrakesh, it would be to stay at Riad Mur Akush.. We stayed at the end of May coming into June and temperatures got up to 42 degs C. The city was hot, busy and noisy, the Riad was an oasis of cool, quiet rooms and relaxed friendly staff who serve fantastic mint tea. As for practicalities, rooms are cosy and air conditioned, beautifully decorated in morrocan style. Roof is available for a spot of sun worshipping or to enjoy the night sounds of a city that never slows down. However the real gem of this Riad for us were the staff, who were excellent and always more than willing to help. The Riad is well located only a few minutes walk from the main square and the new city. We highly recommend staying in one night at the Riad for traditional morrocan food prepared fresh and cooked beautifully..

We stayed here for 3 nights in April and were very, very pleased with our choice!

First I will say that staying in a raid in Marrakech is a unique and lovely experience.
We chose a riad over a standard hotel because we wanted to get an authentic taste of life in Marrakech.
Part of the allure of the medina, for me, was the secret beauty hidden behind the unassuming walls that house many of the palaces and riads.
From the outside you would never guess what lovely and charming accommodations lie within.
And the Riad Mur Akush was a terrific choice!

We changed our itinerary a bit before arriving and so had to change rooms (no fault of theirs), so we stayed one night in the Junior Suite Yassin on the first floor.
Then we spent the next 2 nights in the Junior Suite D’Olive on the second floor.

The riad (as are most) is situated around a central courtyard and the doors to the rooms open right out onto it. This can lend itself to a bit of noise as sounds travel easily throughout…voices especially.
This was one of the only drawbacks we found of staying in a riad, but offset by the fact that we were getting a traditional Moroccan experience.
The courtyard is a popular gathering place for guests to sit and talk.
If you are a light sleeper it would benefit you greatly to bring earplugs (and/or our own personal tip, we bring our ipod and play white noise which helps drown out the sounds). If you are late to bed and early to rise this may not affect you as the noise always seemed to die down by 11pm, but started up again usually by 7am.
The room on the second floor was slightly quieter.

The decor of the entire riad is beautiful!! Very stylish, traditional Moroccan.
There is a great rooftop terrace with terrific views! You'll enjoy breakfast up there every morning!
Both of the rooms were wonderful! Spacious, with large bathrooms, a sofa and a fairly comfortable bed (not too hard). The rooms had air conditioning, a safe and plenty of storage space for luggage, but no drawers for unpacking. As said here before, the lighting was very dim, but manageable.
The showers did make quite a mess as the shower glass wasn't large enough and water would spray onto the floor…slight annoyance, but certainly bearable. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure!

There was free-wi-fi but the router only really reached into the courtyard and the first floor room closest to the entrance (Suite Yassin), it worked well enough that we were able to use Skype to make calls to the USA.

The location was great as stated here already.

We paid cash, so got a free pickup from the train station and someone was waiting for us when we arrived!

The staff was one of the best things about this place! We often read reviews of hotels where they give so much information about the staff. We are usually more interested in the rooms than the staff. But in a foreign country, the staff can make things so much better. The Riad Mur Akush deserves special praise for their staff.
Rashid, the young man who is usually at the front desk is a delight. While he is not 100% fluent, he speaks English very well and if he doesn't understand a word he will ask you what you mean. His enthusiasm for getting to know the guest is a delight. We spent several hours exchanging information about our two countries with Rashid, and he taught us a lot about Morocco and the Muslim culture.

Mohammed is the manager and his English is excellent. He went way out of his way to help us. We needed a rental car and he arranged to have the representative meet us at the riad with a car. When she showed up with the car Mohammed went with us to inspect the car. It was a hunk of junk. Mohammed was not happy and told her so, and that we would not be using her services. He then hired a van to take us to the airport to arrange a rental car. He stayed with us the whole time and helped us transfer our luggage. He spent well over an hour making sure we got a good rental car and let us follow him to the main road for our trip out of Marrakech, so we would not get lost. We offered him a tip and he said "You have a car, I am happy". Service like this is rare and deserves high praise.

I hope you consider this outstanding service and stay at this gem in the medina!

Great location-in easy walking distance of all major sites but far enough away to have peace and tranquillity. Helpful staff even during the ash chaos!
The rooms were clean and had everything you needed. When the sink broke the plumber came within the hour to mend it-wish British service was as good!
Can't wait to come back and share the Riad and Marrakech with my husband.
