Description: In the heart of the Medina and Souks of Marrakech lies the Rahba Kedima spice square, where old women gather to pound henna for traditional tattoos and sell hand knitted hats, while seasoned vendors run the surrounding spice stores. Within this setting is the now famed Cafe des Epices, the perfect meeting place and rest stop from the heat and commotion of the souks. The inexpensive menu is focused on the simple and fresh, offering teas and coffee, freshly made juices, sandwiches, salads and crepes. The design is correspondingly simple: deliberately paired down and basic in order to offer a peaceful resting place after the visual overload of the Souks. Built over 3 floors, the top terrace offers great views over the square and surrounding Medina, the non-smoking 2nd floor salon is a great place to lounge and the ground floor and outdoor tables are fantastic places from which to watch the colourful comings and goings of the spice square market. Open daily from 9am to 10pm

“Lovely little lunch place in the souks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

We went to this cafe during one of our trips to the souks. Very prettily located overlooking the spice market. We were able to watch the world go by out of the window. The food was very nice. I had Moroccan pancakes and my friends had sandwiches. Food was a good price.

“Our favorite place in Marrakech”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013

We just stumbled across this little place on Place Rahba Lakdima when we got lost (once again) in the souks. The atmosphere is relaxed, the servers friendly and the food and drinks delicious. We stayed a lot longer than planned just sitting there, resting from the stress of shopping, watching life on the little square pass by. We liked it so much that later on we tried to find their sister restaurant Le Jardin in another part of the medina but got lost in the souks again.

“Touristy but quirky”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Full of tourists, but gives it a busy feel. Flustered staff, but very efficient. Food is nice. Great place for a stop off to have a break from the heat. Nice roof terrace.

“Try the homemade Yougurt!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

This is a very touristic place and expensive for morrocan average... but still it's quite nice. They have great sandwich and home yougurt (very good). Everything is perfectly safe to eat. Do enjoy the view to the Place des Epices, and the skyline! It's pretty amazing!
