Description: In the heart of the Medina and Souks of Marrakech lies the Rahba Kedima spice square, where old women gather to pound henna for traditional tattoos and sell hand knitted hats, while seasoned vendors run the surrounding spice stores. Within this setting is the now famed Cafe des Epices, the perfect meeting place and rest stop from the heat and commotion of the souks. The inexpensive menu is focused on the simple and fresh, offering teas and coffee, freshly made juices, sandwiches, salads and crepes. The design is correspondingly simple: deliberately paired down and basic in order to offer a peaceful resting place after the visual overload of the Souks. Built over 3 floors, the top terrace offers great views over the square and surrounding Medina, the non-smoking 2nd floor salon is a great place to lounge and the ground floor and outdoor tables are fantastic places from which to watch the colourful comings and goings of the spice square market. Open daily from 9am to 10pm

“Touristy but quirky”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Full of tourists, but gives it a busy feel. Flustered staff, but very efficient. Food is nice. Great place for a stop off to have a break from the heat. Nice roof terrace.

“Try the homemade Yougurt!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

This is a very touristic place and expensive for morrocan average... but still it's quite nice. They have great sandwich and home yougurt (very good). Everything is perfectly safe to eat. Do enjoy the view to the Place des Epices, and the skyline! It's pretty amazing!

“Lovely cafe glacé!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Right in the heart of the Spice Market, this cafe was a welcome sight for shop-wearing tourists. On the first floor we had an overview of the market activity below. Free wifi and a chilled-out atmosphere with helpful staff makes for a pleasant and relaxing breather before heading back out to the souk mayhem.

“Good place to grab a bite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

This is a straight forward sandwich shop catering for hungry tourists who have read about it on TA/LP/RG etc.

Sandwiches are tasty and reasonable value by western standards but perhaps a bit expensive by local.

The menu is straightforward so don't go expecting AA rosette food. Try and get to the rooftop to get a decent view of the square below. Hygiene seemed okay and after a visit we certainly had no issues.
