Great for a girlie break.relaxing in a superb area for visiting the sites.near the red bus and souks.
I enjoyed the lovely clean pool and chilling on the roof after a busy day.

We stayed four evenings and ate in the Riad. I don't think we could have had better food anywhere.
The Lemon chicken is to die for,the beef and prunes mmmmmmm.
Lamb with apricots stuffed with walnuts a delight.

Abdul a superb waiter and Sabena couldn't have made it more pleasurable
Well done

Room Tip: Our room was on the grand floor.i suspect every room is good.plenty of room.

Stayed here 7 & 8 October and then again 10 October and it was a game of 2 halves ! The first stay was lovely, nice welcome and lovely room, superior suite on 1st floor. The second half was a junior suite on ground floor next to breakfast area so noisy from around 7.30am. TV did not work, air conditioning noisy and did not work properly. If it did and we were doing it wrong as was suggested some instructions and information about services in the hotel generally would have been useful, we only found out on the last night that beer was available ! Breakfast, virtually same each day and more style than substance. After our first stay I would have stayed again and recommended this place, after our second stay, I would neither stay here again nor recommend it....lovely building 3 star service,

Room Tip: Get a first floor at least....do not stay in Tanger or the other room on ground floor opposite...too...

We was in Marrakech, Palais Calipau in September; it was for our honey moon.
The Riad is wonderfull: relax and superb architectural design with sofa, carpet and pouff all over the hall around the pool. At the morning, breakfest there, in the middle of lemon trees and singing birds all over around. Beautiful.
The leader, Salma, is very nice and accompliance: if you want some information ask her and will find the answer.
We will never forget our honey moon.

This was our first stop in a three week trip all over Morocco, and it was the best service of the entire trip- and we stayed in several five star hotels during the trip (Riad Fes, El Minzah is Tangiers, the Softel in Marrakech). Palais Calipau is gorgeous, serene, perfectly appointed, the rooms and public spaces are beautiful examples of Moroccan architecture. However, what really makes this place exceptional is the staff. They are professional, friendly, always available (literally; my daughter was looking around for a bottle of water at three in the morning and a staff member appeared out of nowhere and got her one with a smile). They are completely unobtrusive, yet amazingly appear whenever you need something, it's like magic. They were helpful with any plans we might have wanted to make, advice on where to go, nothing was too much to ask. And now I must mention the FOOD. Oh My. Breakfast every morning was typical Moroccan- delicious handmade crepes with jam and butter and cheese, hard boiled eggs, croissant, crusty bread and coffee and tea and of course fresh squeezed orange juice. Served on the rooftop terrace if you wanted (we always did). Unfortunately we didn;t eat dinner there until our last night- because if we had known how great their dinners were we would have eaten tyhere exclusively- I am still dreaming about the lamb tagine with prunes and almonds, despite the fact that I am a vegetarian! The vegetable couscous was the best we had the entire trip, and all of theis was served on white linen on the rooftop as the sun set, by not on but two staff members (there were onyl four of us). Now mind you, we were the only people staying in the Riad which might be part of the reason we had such excellent service, but I doubt it. These people really know how to treat their guests. I woudl never stay anywhere else in Marrakech.

Room Tip: The rooms on the main courtyard have the most light. The air conditioning didn't work in all th...

I stayed here with my partner in March 12 and overall, would say that whilst my stay was mostly pleasant, there is plenty of room for improvement.

Location: Good location. A short walk away from the El Fna and other attractions within the old town. Located within the Medina which itself is a very busy area. However, the riad is tucked away off the main streets and so is quiet and safe and easy to access. We wanted to stay in the medina for the experience and this riad offered a good opportunity for that.

Staff: Friendly and helpful. We had a free transfer to and from the airport which was nice. All concerns raised were quickly dealt with e.g. when we needed to switch room (will expand below) we were moved to a nicer room within minutes of making the request. Staff also helped with our itinerary where requested e.g. they helped us book into the spa - Le Bains de Marrakech - well worth a visit but need to book in advance!. All staff spoke English fluently and were helpful.

The Room(s): This is the area that can be improved upon. The first room that we were allocated was nice and comfortable. However, small things let it down. The tap on the bathtub kept falling off, the tv didn't work and some of the light bulbs were out. The second room was nicer but again, the tv was very temperamental. Also, bathroom/ toilet is only separated from the bedroom by a thin veil - not great when privacy is needed in times of a turbulent stomach! It's also next to the managers office and there is a vent connecting the office and the bathroom - a vent which effectively a hole in the wall - not a perforated vent. Although there was no hint at any wrongdoing, I wasn't comfortable with this for privacy reasons and so covered the vent with a piece of clothing. Vent also meant sound travelled from office to our room so could here the conversations taking place in the office.

All in all, the rooms are decent enough but are certainly not memorable. For the prices being charged, I would expect a bit more, certainly I would expect all appliances to work! On the plus side, aircon worked well.

Breakfast: Not bad even if a bit basic. Mint tea, juices, flat breads with honey etc. You can't be expecting a full english so overall, I found breakfast quite nice and never missed it.

In summary, this is a fairly pleasant riad and none of the faults I have mentioned are significant enough to spoil your stay. However, I do think you should expect more..and can find better for the price.

Palais Calipau was a wonderful experience: Perfectly situated in the old Kasbah, close to tne central square and the markets - with a wonderful roof terrace with sun beds, arm chairs etc.. Our room was clean and beautiful - Moroccan Riad style.
The staff is smiling and very friendly, the service is excellent. We had our breakfast on the roof terrace, a wonderful breakfast - and was helped in anyway.
We give our best recommendations to Palais Calipau, Marrakech
