Recommended by friends and our riad landlady, we were compelled to give Le Comptoir a try. We weren't disappointed.
Having made a reservation we arrived at just before 9 and were promptly shown to our table on the first floor. The menu was impressive with a mix of Moroccan and "International" dishes. It being our first night in Marrakech we both plumped for Moroccan. I had the harirra followed by Kefta with egg and my husband went for pastilla followed by lamb shank tagine. The food was absolutely divine and our appetites had also been tempered by bowls of olives, beans and breads in advance.
Beers were expectantly dear in this trendy spot - 70 dirhams each. And although by Marrakech standards this place is deemed to be expensive, we felt the value was there.
To top it off, we enjoyed the belly dancer entertainment at 10.30 - a staple of each evening. It added an extra element of authenticity to the evening.
Le Comptoir - definitely recommended.
