Description: Comptoir Darna is an important nightlife attraction in Marrakech, which has arrived on the scene in 1999. It proposes a perfect fusion between the orient and the occident. It is « THE » place in the red city where every night is party night. Comptoir Darna is where we live unforgettable moments, where we meet and exchange mutual experiences... It is the house of the traveler, an unavoidable pause on the caravan trail. “Darna” in Arabic means “Our Home”, so: Welcome to your home !

“Le Comptoir - definitely recommended.”
Reviewed October 17, 2010

Recommended by friends and our riad landlady, we were compelled to give Le Comptoir a try. We weren't disappointed.

Having made a reservation we arrived at just before 9 and were promptly shown to our table on the first floor. The menu was impressive with a mix of Moroccan and "International" dishes. It being our first night in Marrakech we both plumped for Moroccan. I had the harirra followed by Kefta with egg and my husband went for pastilla followed by lamb shank tagine. The food was absolutely divine and our appetites had also been tempered by bowls of olives, beans and breads in advance.

Beers were expectantly dear in this trendy spot - 70 dirhams each. And although by Marrakech standards this place is deemed to be expensive, we felt the value was there.

To top it off, we enjoyed the belly dancer entertainment at 10.30 - a staple of each evening. It added an extra element of authenticity to the evening.

Le Comptoir - definitely recommended.

“Fun place, delicious food”
Reviewed October 16, 2010

We ate here twice during our stay in Marrakech. It was a fun, trendy break from our stay in the Medina. The staff was very friendly and nice although they occasionally seemed like they were still learning Western service etiquette. The food here was excellent! Although the restaurant's atmosphere is very cosmopolitan/nightclub-ish, the tagine here was better than any other Moroccan food I had in Marrakech.

“The place to be seen on a Saturday night in Marrakech”
Reviewed October 7, 2010

Our riad booked a table for us in advance as we knew it would be busy on a Saturday night, which it was.The restaurant has a lovely patio area outside but as we had a table booked upstairs we were taken directly to it upstairs. The ambience is lovely, very authentic Marrakech and intimate with candles everywhere. The menu is varied, offering both Morroccan and Western food, as well as a delicious- sounding cocktail menu.

To start I had spring rolls and my husband had the calamari, both of which were gorgeous and to be honest a bit too filling! I then had the burger which I had asked for bien cuit but it was a little too pink but delicious nonetheless, with fat chips and lota of toppings. My husband had the meatball tagine which he said was lovely although again very filling.

Whilst we were dining the bellydancing entertainment took place which was spectacular, incorporating darling costumes, daggers and candles. The restaurant was quite full making conversation difficult but not impossible and the service was very good even with it being very busy- the waiter allowed us to move tables as the people next to our table were smoking.

We would not hesitate to go back on our next trip to Marrakech.

“Getting worse”
Reviewed September 16, 2010

Being married to a moroccan, we've been visiting le Comptior regularly for over 6 years. Sadly, each time we visit, the standards have slipped a little. The portions get smaller, the food more tourist-oriented, the prices higher, and the service poorer.

This time we'd booked and were taking my parents for our final, special meal in town. The service took forever, we had to replenish our own drinks as we were ignored throughout the meal, a second bottle of wine took 15 minutes to arrive and the food was distinctly average.

The one redeeming point were the after-dinner cocktails, which were delicious. If you do come, make sure to book downstairs, as upstairs is also a bar and far too noisy.

There was a time that Le Comptior was my favourite restaurant in town, but I fear next time, we'll be hunting for a replacement. I suspect the owner's attention is focused on his latest restaurant in Guieliz, and his once caring attitude and high standards has gone with it.

“amazing food”
Reviewed July 7, 2010

Two words: amazing food.
This restaurant has great decoration, sophication but relaxed, intimist (great for small groups) but the most important thing, the food is even better good and well worth it for the price the quality and quantity of food will certainly leave you with a smile. .Do have le Mechoui (for two) and le tigre ki pleure ( crying tiger )amazing taste . Good wine
All in all, great food, great service, great decoration. Sophisticated without exotism
