My wife and me spent a fabulous week in Riad Davia, which was made all the more special by the wonderful service provided by Achraf, Said, Nafida and all the other staff. They couldn't have done anything to make us feel more welcome.
From the moment we got through customs at Marrakech airport, we were in safe and friendly hands. Our transfer was included as part of our deal for staying over 4 nights, as was the wonderful Moroccan meal we sat down to about an hour after we touched down.
The staff were very welcoming on arrival and it is true that the riad would be impossible to find without either a guide or prior knowledge. It is located down a maze of narrow streets which are full of life, atmosphere, exotic aromas and lots of local colour. However, it doesn't take long to get your bearings and the 15 minute walk to Jemma el Fna was a different experience every time we did it.
It was always so relaxing to arrive back outside the little door of the riad, knowing that all that noise and the pandemonium that makes Marrakech so intriguing, but also quite a tiring place to visit, would soon be on its other side. Once inside, the riad is a perfect oasis of calm - hard to imagine outside that door! The whole riad, and our room (Dawiya) was a wonderful place to retreat after a hard day pounding the streets. The little balcony looking out over the courtyard was an added bonus. The rooms were always spotless and tidied up when we arrived back after a day out. It was also great to have free access to the internet, which worked properly.
We ate 2 meals at the riad, which were beautifully cooked by Hafida. She asked us what we'd like to try in the morning and it would be ready for us when we wanted it later. Her pancakes were also wonderful each morning (especially the square ones!).
Achraf, the manager, was also very helpful and organised our hire car which we booked for a day for about £35. We drove the 40km to the Atlas mountains in the morning the later in the afternoon we drove it around the city, which was interesting to say the least and not for the faint hearted! He also booked and collected our bus tickets to Essaouira, which was very helpful too and well worth the trip.
Overall, I have to say that this was without doubt the best service I have ever received on any of my trips over the years. The riad is beautiful and you wont be disappointed!
Thanks again to all the staff and especially Hafida for my wonderful birthday present!!! x

Worth it...worth it...worth it!
We stayed in Riad Davia for a week in June 2010. After reading many reviews, looking at pictures, etc. we decicided this would be a good choice. We were so right! It was our first time in Marrakech so we booked the airport collection. I would say this is an essential part of the logistics as, without the initial guide, I do not think we would have ever found the riad! The taxi driver walked us to the front door, after parking his car a few alley-ways away. The walk was uncertain. The streets full of big holes (due to water works). It was hard to believe we had booked a lovely place round there. And, suddenly, this little door opened and heaven appeared in front of us. A very refreshing scent and a smiley host welcomed us and, then, everthing fell into place.
The riad is very charming and comfortable. The patio with the splash pool and comfy seats is the perfect place to chill out after a whole day of walking in the medina. Honestly, you will need to chill out!
The staff were remarkable. Nothing was ever a bother and they were always willing to help. The cook was excellent and always offered a great choice of food...and, tagine, of course! Also, breakfast was very good (pancakes, fresh orange juice, bread, jams, etc...).
The riad is only a short walk away from the main square. Once you know the way, it'll only take you about 10-15mins. Just remember to keep a good eye on the different vehicles approaching from every corner.
Would I go back to Riad Davia or recommend it to my friends? Absolutely!

A genuinely wonderful Riad that i would recommend to anyone. A perfect location, hidden away from the chaos. A perfect place to unwind and relax or party if you choose to. Saed is very welcoming, incredibly helpful and kind. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is delicious! Our room was lovely with stairs to the bed, romantic lighting, the room is cleaned and the towels changed daily. We had a balcony overlooking the middle of the riad which was lovely. Just a short walk from the square Riad Davia is perfectly located. Any trip or spa booking is made simply through reception. If you're looking to go to Marrakech I suggest you stay here!

The Riad was delightful. Staff were welcoming and made you feel part of the Davia family. It was a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the medina and very well placed for seeing the city. The food was home cooked and of a very high standard and the staff were able to organise any trips and tours that we wanted to do with little notice. We would not hesitate in recommending the Riad to anyone that wanted to go to Marrakech.
