“Excellent Riad - full of character”
Reviewed September 22, 2010

This is a lovely place; it’s down a side passage off a bustling thoroughfare in the northern medina, lined with shops and full of shoppers, tradesmen and people on motorized scooters.
Our room was excellent and we found all staff at the riad to be very friendly and helpful. Bouchra the manageress met us when we arrived and gave us information about how to get to the Jemma El Fna square. We arranged to have a meal the night we arrived. It was really good, and very plentiful we would recommend eating here one night on your stay; the wine and beer are good too!
The riad offers to get a taxi to pick you up at the airport for a 10 euro fee. This is a reasonable deal and the driver takes you to the nearest point that cars can reach, from there the riad is about a five minute walk.
We walked through the more modern part of Marrakech, Gueliz where many of the western style hotels and you really could be anywhere in Europe in this quarter.
If you want an authentic experience in a place central to the heart of Marrakech, then this fits the bill.

Service was excellent at this Riad. It's a short walk away from the rush and teeming life that is the Medina but it feels another world away as soon as you step through the door. It's tranquil, relaxed and very well run, with 24 hour reception facilities. From the welcome cup of mint tea to them seeing you out the door, the service is seamless. It's a beautiful property, well furnished and beautifully restored. Our room was clean, well furnished and had a comfortable bed. We ate in the riad for our second night and had a 3 course dinner with wine. The quality of the food was extremely high, and it is worth staying in for. Breakfasts were also very good and the roof terrace is a lovely place to eat highly recommended.

A lovely quiet guest house intriguingly hidden away down an alleyway ("can this be the right way?!") within the maze of narrow streets in the northern Medina of Marrakech. A great base for exploring the Medina and the souks and a tranquil refuge from the frenetic pace when you need it. Large rooms with lots of character. Excellent breakfasts served in the pretty courtyard. The Staff were always very kind and helpful, a very pleasant experience!

Entering this Riad from the bustling souk on its doorstep was like entering a little oasis of calm, the intimacy of the building made it feel very welcoming and personal; the riad is centrally located so everything is within a stone's throw, what was most surprising was the fact that the place was so quiet compared to the noise and bustle of the city. The staff at the Riad are an excellent team that run everything like clockwork without you ever noticing it and the detailed map they provided meant that it was easy to navigate to Jemaa-el-fna just a 10 minute walk away. We had a few meals at the riad and they were the best meals we had during our stay in Marrakech. The rooms were beautifully laid out in authentic Moroccan detail yet with a twist of western luxury. There are excellent views of the Medina from roof terrace.
All in all this was a wonderful base from which to explore the city.

spent three nights at dar eliane and found some good and bad bits to this riad. The meal we had on arrival was excellent and the customer service skills of sleiman were also very professional, as he would help you wherever he could. However on the rare occasions that we saw the manager Bouchra we felt that we didn't get the same helpful service as when we asked questions about where to go she gave the impression that we were inconveniencing her. The room we had was nice and was good value for money, however the main shortfall was the location as due to it being near to the souks, the constant hassle from many locals was a downfall that wasn't a factor when we stayed in other parts of the medina. Whilst little could obviously be done about the location, we would recommend this area around the souks for a brief visit rather than a stay.

In terms of value for money, Riad Dar Eliane is really hands down! The Riad is centrally placed in the old Medina (Souks) down a warren of alleys in an atmospheric family neighbourhood. All of the local residents are very friendly and welcoming. The Riad’s internal courtyard has been attentively restored and all the rooms are very colourful and spacious. The staff are both kind and considerate and if you book a dinner there, it is of the highest quality and has a real home-made feel. All of the key sites are within walking distance of the Riad which makes life much easier by way of not having to get a taxi everytime you venture out. Hanging out and relaxing on the roof terrace is a must do after a day in the hustle-and-bustle of Marrakech.
So if you're interested in staying at a great Riad with caring and attentive staff, good food, try Dar Eliane!

Well located inside the Medina in the north of the souks.
Superb hospitality - nothing too much trouble for the staff who go out of their way to meet your needs.
Home cooked authentic meals very tasty especially the Moroccan tajines, great to eat on the rooftop terrace.
Rooms beautifully decorated in Moroccan style but with all modern comforts, the Raid’s airport transfers were well organized and reliable so are worth booking to make life easier for you.
Definitely worth a visit.
