Stayed at the Riad Dar Zaman with my husband and two friends in September for 4 nights. The Riad is exactly the beauty you see in the pictures. Great atmosphere. Staff is super nice. Beds are amazing. What a gem in the middle of Medina. Medina can be a little crazy but is this craziness that makes it so special. Peter, the owner, was absolutely great with us. He knows the best places to eat, shop, and helped us book amazing day trips. We will be back for sure to Dar Zaman.

The Riad was lovely but in the middle of what seemed a run down residential area. We had a lot of trouble with childre (2/3 year old) begging for money and throwing stones at us when they didn't get it!

Riad itself is lovely and the pictures are absutely what it looks like. Excellent host/ owner.

The location and run down nature of the surrounding area really let it down for us and as a woman did not feel safe on my own, maybe just a culture thing though.

Thanks for your positive feedback on Riad Dar Zaman and our staff! Our team work hard to provide top service and a safe, welcoming environment for all our guests.

We’re sorry you weren’t enamoured with the medina - the majority of discerning travellers find a stay in the medieval medina a fascinating insight into a bygone era – it’s a World Heritage UNESCO site, a fantastic smorgasbord for the senses.

The terrifying 2/3 year olds are now adorable 3/4 year olds and have been tamed! It’s safe again to walk the streets! We’ve employed them as litter monitors and they now keep our street spotlessly clean in exchange for weekly pocket money.

Next time ask for one of our complimentary phones and call us on the approach to the riad and one of the staff will happily accompany you home.

We loved our visit to Marrakech, but I have to say, most of the things we loved were largely attributable to our stay at Dar Zaman.
The riad is well located in the old town, a short walk from the main square and the souks.
It is small but beautiful and a perfectly relaxing oasis from the craziness of Marrakech. The pool in the central courtyard is quite small, but refreshing and great for cooling off after a big day of walking around in the heat. The rooftop terrace is perfect for reading a book or relaxing in the sun. The rooms have air conditioning and are very comfortable.
Hassan was a wonderful host/concierge - on our arrival he welcomed us with a cup of mint tea (the first of many in Marrakech) and gave us a fantastic map of the medina making sure we knew our way around the city and how to get back to the riad - very important! He was available each day to answer questions and help us organise taxis and tour guides - he truly provided 5 star service.
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning and we had a fabulous dinner on our last night - I recommend you enjoy at least one dinner here.
We really loved this riad, we would be happy to return again and we would not hesitate to recommend it to our firends and family.

To stay in a city as exotic as the old Marrakech, you would wish for clean, calm, quiet and elegant accomodation. Riad Dar Zaman provides all this, but exceeds your expectations by miles. Hassan gave help and advice, and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The meal that we had on our first night, cooked by the wonderful housekeeper, was the best that we had in all our stay, and the attention to detail (candles on the stairs and round the courtyard, petals on the table) was first class. Even an unexpected hitch was dealt with professionally, and beyond expectation. If we return to Marrakech, this is where we will stay. Thank you again.

We were very surprised in finding such a charming and lovely place after zigzaging around the narow streets of the Marrakech Medina when we arrived here. The location is the best, in the heart of this Medieval Town. The place was restored by Peter, the owner, some 4 years ago, living the elegance and the feel of this special "Traditional Family House". One feels inmediately at home when he welcomes you in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish or even in Arabic. Peter is a young Englishman that lived many years in New York, San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo... and of course, London. He is a world traveler that fell in love with this place and enjoys giving you tips, helping you with directions, even taking you to places, recommending restaurants, places to visit, the right taxi driver, and whatever you think you need. We had been here for 4 days and 3 nights, and after vising Fes and returning via Marrakech, we decided to stay another night, just for the fun of it. We do recommend. You can just take a look at his site: www.darzaman.com

Room Tip: There are only 4 rooms and they are nice, clean, well decorated... we stayed at the one that has an...

Me and my wife stayed three nights, this Riad was great. Clean, accommodating, helpful. All the staff made us feel as if it was our own home.

I have to extend my sincere thanks to Hassan who was brilliant, such a brilliant host. Really friendly and helpful, made us feel comfortable and was giving us great tips and places to check out. Also thank you to Peter, again full of advice especially Earth Cafe which we loved and ended up going several times.

Additionally this riad is so great when I enquired and told them we were coming on our honeymoon they went out the way to prepare a lovely romantic meal. I cant thank all you so much.

I hope you do get the chance to open more places Peter (remember mates rate for me yes :p) and Hassan you'll also be a fantastic manager of your own place one day, we really did appreciate everything you did for us!

Thanks again,

Keval (UK)

From the very warm welcome at the Airport by our 2 lovely locals to the departure at the airport by the same 2 who had became our private chauffeurs throughout our short stay, everthing inbetween was the most organised, friendly, outstanding hospitality I have ever experienced and coming from a world wide traveller of 26 yrs through work, I am more than qualified to say this.
Peter the owner of the Riad soon became nothing short of a best friend. The running of his beautifull Riad was like a well oiled machine, himself, his right hand man Hassan and lovely Housekeeper lady Malika were always there whenever you needed anything....and then like the old childrens programe 'Mr Ben' appeared the instant you needed help, information or attention and then seemed to disappear out of view so that the whole place was left for myself and the other 8 girlfriends to enjoy like it was our very own private home. Who could want for anything more?
The Riad itself was so beautifull and from a very design orientated person hit every button.
The roof top garden gave the sunworshipers in us the chance to sunbathe in a completly concealed enviroment so as not to offend the locals.
On our late evening arival, Peter had organised on request for us to have a beautiful authentic Tagine buffet. I was amongst 3 other Chefs and this again got our thumbs up for quality as did the lovely relaxed Breakfasts we all enjoyed around a big table in one of the many little rooms around the centre square of the riad.
We only had 4 days to enjoy our stay and for someone that never stays longer than a few days on holiday....I seriously didnt want to leave the place. I Cant recomend it enough. My normal choice would have probably been in the New city in a 5 * Hotel but this was in the old Medina and totally transported you to the real sights, sounds and smells of Marrakech...the only way to appreciate it I think. If its always been on your bucket list of places to go to ( it was on mine) then definatley spend it here. My stay will never be forgotton and I will return.

Room Tip: All the rooms are equally lovely, they are small but very design quirky and enough space for all you...
