We found Riad Hayati via Tripadvisor and used the owner's website to book direct. Ron responded quickly and gave us detailed advice on local restaurants and trips out of town. Everything you read on recent reviews is so true. The Hayati is an absolute gem and is the coolest place for decor and facilities but also it's a calm, tranquil and cool place to return to after the heat, hustle and bustle of Marrakech.
I thought we'd never find our way around the city but Hayati is easy to find, being so close to Bahia Palace and Tiskiwin museum, you'd never guess the delights behind the huge wooden door. After seven days we felt like locals, knowing the shortcuts through back alleys and knowing the street vendors. We stayed in the Riad's suite with own terrace and plunge pool and were very grateful to Abdel or Mina who would provide us with cool drinks on our return every afternoon or hot drinks at night. The temperatures dipped at sunset but this is no problem with well heated rooms, pashmina provided to keep me cosy as I gazed at the stars from the rooftop terrace. The suite has a huge downstairs bathroom next to a cool dressing room, no need to bring toiletries, slippers, robes etc. all are provided for you.
We usually eat out but having enjoyed Mina's welcome meal we couldn't resist eating twice more in the Riad, the food was a wonderful mix of Morroccan and French cuisine and the ambience of the dining room made each meal memorable. Abdel chose different relaxing music each evening, the courtyard has its own natural music from the songbirds and gently bubbling fountain.
All thanks have to go to Ron, (who we didn't meet, but who rang us after arrival to ensure we were happy), Abdel and Mina for their charming service and thoughfulness.
